Covey says most people look for quick fixes. They see a big success and want to know how he did it, believing (and hoping) they can do the same following a quick bullet list.
But real change, the author says, comes not from the outside in, but from the inside out. And the most fundamental way of changing yourself is through a paradigm shift.
That paradigm shift is a new way of looking at the world. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People presents an approach to effectiveness based on character and principles.
The first three habits indeed deal with yourself because it all starts with you. The first three habits move you from dependence from the world to the independence of making your own world.
Habits 4, 5 and 6 are about people and relationships. The will move you from independence to interdependence. Such, cooperating to achieve more than you could have by yourself.
The last habit, habit number 7, focuses on continuous growth and improvement.

1. Every man is distinctive to others as what Samuel Johnson quoted “No man
was ever great by imitation”. Each individuals has its own natural authenticity and
advantage however this inherent qualities do have limitations but by knowing and
discovering yourself you can easily adjust and use your optimum strength and
even to go through beyond. Remember, Uniqueness is the edge of every man, it
identifies you as you. I am unique, and I have witnessed of how wonderful the
God’s creation of human is. So I
begin to tell now the story of mine.
December 9, 1997, I came to
the world through the womb of a
loving mother with spiritual
essence and purpose became a
part and gave my life. God blew my
mouth and I cried with the first
breath, caused my heart to beat,
and my systems to work, and
activated my physical growth. That
was the first day of my existence.
I was raised by my parents with
love, support and care. I have grown up like most children, happy and contented.
When I was still a child, I went every afternoon outside to play outdoor games
with friends and to have “kulitan” with my siblings. I am so blessed to have them
for so many reasons that in simple ways they gave me the sweetness and
happiness of life.
2. But worst moments came, the time when the glass shattered into pieces, the
windows hit with a stone and broke, and when the doors shut and forcefully
closed, so hopeless that no one helped but only the Almighty one above. I once
planned to end my life or to kill someone because of hatred and deep anger but
the good thing happened was the Lord enlightened me. I realized all the pain and
sufferings have reasons: it equips me to be strong, tough and better; it sharpens
my rationality; it strengthens my faith and it reminds me to never do again the
wrongdoings. Pain is a teacher and sufferings is a test, once you pass then you’ll
able to realize the real meaning of life. For now, I have no guts to share those
unpleasing moments and I wanna keep it by myself.
History has big contribution of what is today, you now is because of the past.
My life encounters and experiences foretold who I am now as a spiritual and
social human being.
I have a sensitive inner nature, being receptive and able to recognize
individual differences and adjust to slight changes or influences; and I value of
someone’s secret and they can assure security. I am greatly willing to
interconnect and work with people especially persons needed with special
attention (like PWD’s and OSC&Y) in lifting and inspiring them through
counselling and educating even in the simplest form; and my inner appreciation
for all people is a cosmopolitan quality that others enjoy.
I have talkative nature. Some people misapprehend this word and I just want
to clarify that being talkative is does not mean gossipy. I am verbally expressive
and clever to use of language and humour to create harmony and cooperation
through harmonious discussion or stimulating oratory. I talk with confidence like a
public speaker “feeling lang haha” and eager to raise the voice of the needy
people. Some of my friends posted on my facebook wall, the trending TBH (To
3. be honest, most of them said that I am good in English and “tabian” well then it is
obviously regarded myself.
My greatest joy is to help my family. I am seeking changes in order to have
the opportunity for travel, new experiences, and new friends and associates.
I am not perfect, I do have also lapses and weaknesses. Very often impulse
and intuition are the basis of my actions rather than thoughtful planning. I have
this feeling of being always pressured because of the high expectation of my
environment. Other nega-thing is “Magastos ako” I often do not budget my
money, resulting in financial difficulties because my desires exceed my means
but of course I did not forget to give financial support to my parents. Sometimes
also not knowingly I act with superiority thinking that make other people dismay.
Despite, I am not easily discouraged instead I am trying my best to overcome my
weaknesses through hard work, perseverance and effort. Having an engine of
pluck and determination with an oil of confidence and resiliency is the best thing
to pepare before to travel in the amazing road of life.
I may not be best, but I am definitely not like the rest.
