Evaluating the performance of tourism of each state which facilitates operational improvement and strategic decisions. The purpose of the project was to evaluate the relative performance of 29 states and Delhi’s tourism sector using various criteria. We evaluated each state & Delhi (Decision making units, DMUs) using various criteria using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). There is a discussion on the applicability of this approach, thus helping practicing managers and government to understand the lacuna, if any, and set mutual benchmarks and benefits from the experience of each other’s performance. This approach thus helps in strategic decision making for policy making and achieves the better result.
