BTECs and A-levels are often compared, with some arguing that BTEC students do not deserve a place at university. However, BTECs taken in vocational subjects like business and engineering are now considered equivalent to A-levels. Over 100,000 UK BTEC students apply to university each year and 95% are accepted onto degree programs, including at competitive Russell Group universities. The article interviews an educator from Eccles Sixth Form Centre to get their perspective on whether BTEC students deserve a place in university and the reality of studying a BTEC.
