The Education Alliance launched several new initiatives in the past year focused on remaking learning for West Virginia students, including a STEM Network Schools program, financial literacy initiative, and partnerships to support early childhood education. The STEM Network Schools program aims to increase student engagement in STEM subjects and has already trained over 430 teachers. A new financial literacy initiative works to strengthen students' financial capability and increase college access. United Way Born Learning Academies partner with schools to provide early childhood education resources and support to over 260 families.

- 1. www.TheAlbanyFundforEducation.org August 14, 2016 Re: Mr. Justin Iracani To Whom It May Concern The purpose of this letter is to express my high regard for Mr. Justin Iracani, and the work that he did as an intern with the Albany Fund for Education (AFE). The State University of New York at Albany gives credit to their students for work done at community organizations in the Capital Region. This provides an opportunity for the students to get real-‐life experience, and for organizations to increase their productivity. Justin submitted an application to the AFE for the 2015 fall semester. Two AFE Board Members interviewed Justin, and offered him an internship with the AFE Mentoring Committee on the spot. The Albany Fund for Education (AFE) is a 501c3 that leverages community resources and supports programs that improve student outcomes. Our interests include curricular enrichment, novel programming, and student health and well-‐being, and we have collaborated with over 100 community groups to accomplish our goals. Our support sponsors STEM in the classroom via the NYS sponsored ; literacy in the home via child-‐centered Little Free Libraries; novel programming through small INNOVATION grants to teachers, principals, and parents; and student health and well-‐being via dental services and food backpacks. The AFE Board of Directors charged the Mentoring Committee with evaluating the mentoring services available to Albany Youth and recommending ways for the AFE to improve assignment was to complete a draft document that listed mentoring services available to children in Albany. To do this, he verified information from identified agencies and gathered information on agencies not in the current draft. At the same time, he informed each gro AFE programs. Justin did his work efficiently and effectively while he carried a full-‐time course load. He attended committee meeting, sent out communications, made phone calls, and located community resources. He did all this cheerfully, with composure and perseverance. I have no reservations in recommending Justin for employment. He will be an asset wherever he goes.
