Eurasian milfoil has infected Squash Lake and is adversely impacting the aquatic ecosystem. It forms dense canopies that shade out native plants, provides poor habitat, and increases nutrients in the water column. Dense milfoil mats also alter water quality, provide breeding grounds for mosquitoes, and interfere with recreational activities. Local volunteers are needed to help protect Crescent Lake through the Clean Boats-Clean Waters program.
