There are three airports near Uppsala, Sweden - two small regional airports in Uppsala city, Arlanda Airport which is Sweden's largest and opened in 1959 serving only practice flights initially before becoming an international airport in the 1960s with two runways, and a former military airport called Ärna flygplats or F16 that is currently abandoned but plans are being made to reopen it. The third airport mentioned is Sundbro flygfält, a private airport offering tours of Uppsala and flight lessons.
