BACKGROUND & OVERVIEW
Create! Don’t Hate. is a Design Ignites Change youth
mentoring initiative that helps guide participates
through the design of a billboard around the theme
of tolerance.

Design Ignites Change: a collaboration between
Adobe Youth Voices and Worldstudio. It’s an annual
program that encourages high school and college
students from around the country to engage in a
design thinking process to create messages and
solutions to social problems around the world.

College students will mentor high school students in
the development of an actual project that will help
the community. In this case, a billboard.

The target audience of the Create! Don’t Hate.
project is everyone around the world of all ages.




                                                       TARGET AUDIENCE
Everyone around the world are affected at some
point in their life by tolerance/intolerance. So we
are going to create posters that have an impact on
various cultures and groups around the world as well
as the United States.

Most of the problems people deal with on a daily
basis can somehow be traced to intolerance.

This project is designed to encourage students




                                                      TONE / PERSONALITY
from across the country to create a billboard using
thought-provoking messages that help define a
possible solution to the theme of tolerance.

Some guide words: tolerance, intolerance,
community, positive, solution, message, innovation,
thought, creativity, encouraging, action, inspire,
relationships, guidance.

CURRENT PERCEPTION &
The current perception on tolerance is that people
are oblivious to the small acts of violence that occur
every day around their local communities.

There is also a small realization that intolerance
impacts everyone’s lives in one way or another.

Success will be acheived when the message of our
design impacts the views in a positive manner. It
will also be acheived when our billboard inspires the
viewer to take action towards tolerance/intolerance

in their local communities.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Some specific requirements are that we must use
billboard dimension (14’x48’); it must convey the
theme of tolerance; we must use thought provoking
solutions over provocative messages; there can’t
be any use of logos, taglines, corporate names,
or obscene language/imagery and we are solely
responsible for obtaining the rights to any imagery
we use.

For this project, we will be designing a billboard that




                                                          FOCUSED STATEMENT
inspires the Minneapolis community to take action
in some way or another against intolerance to try to
make this a better environment for all that live here.
We are going to try to appeal to the mass population
in effort to make an impact on their lives as well
as stimulate thoughts towards the message being
communicated.

MOOD BOARD
    When discussing what colors should
      be used to create the billboard. We
      decided to go for a colorful pallette
     that incorporates as many colors as
possible, but be cohesive to encourage
   the idea that even though everyone is
different, we can alll still be harmonious.

It’s an annual program that encourages high school and college students from around the country to engage in a design thinking process to create messages and solutions to social problems around the world. College students will mentor high school students in the development of an actual project that will help the community. In this case, a billboard. 01
  • 4. The target audience of the Create! Don’t Hate. project is everyone around the world of all ages. TARGET AUDIENCE Everyone around the world are affected at some point in their life by tolerance/intolerance. So we are going to create posters that have an impact on various cultures and groups around the world as well as the United States. Most of the problems people deal with on a daily basis can somehow be traced to intolerance. 02

This project is designed to encourage students TONE / PERSONALITY from across the country to create a billboard using thought-provoking messages that help define a possible solution to the theme of tolerance. Some guide words: tolerance, intolerance, community, positive, solution, message, innovation, thought, creativity, encouraging, action, inspire, relationships, guidance. 03
  • 6. CURRENT PERCEPTION & The current perception on tolerance is that people are oblivious to the small acts of violence that occur every day around their local communities. There is also a small realization that intolerance impacts everyone’s lives in one way or another. Success will be acheived when the message of our design impacts the views in a positive manner. It will also be acheived when our billboard inspires the viewer to take action towards tolerance/intolerance SUCCESS in their local communities. 04

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Some specific requirements are that we must use billboard dimension (14’x48’); it must convey the theme of tolerance; we must use thought provoking solutions over provocative messages; there can’t be any use of logos, taglines, corporate names, or obscene language/imagery and we are solely responsible for obtaining the rights to any imagery we use. 05

For this project, we will be designing a billboard that FOCUSED STATEMENT inspires the Minneapolis community to take action in some way or another against intolerance to try to make this a better environment for all that live here. We are going to try to appeal to the mass population in effort to make an impact on their lives as well as stimulate thoughts towards the message being communicated. 06
  • 9. MOOD BOARD When discussing what colors should be used to create the billboard. We decided to go for a colorful pallette that incorporates as many colors as possible, but be cohesive to encourage the idea that even though everyone is different, we can alll still be harmonious. 07
