The Age of Exploration or Age of Discovery was an important period in European history. This era
lasted from the late 1400's to the 1700's. This era was important because this started overseas
exploration popularity. Even though England started late in exploration, King Henry VII sent John
Cabot to explore other countries in 1497. As a result, England gained profits from its wool trade
which benefited England. England was one of the most influential countries during the Age of
Exploration because they created new ways to spread their religion and new ways to make money
through trading.
John Cabot was born in Genoa, Italy and died in 1499. He moved to England in 1945 and in 1496
he got a patent from King Henry VII to explore the world. As a result, John Cabot claimed to have
found Canada and discovered what is now North America. This created an impact on his home
