Age Of Discovery Essay
What were the Effects of the Age of Discovery?
The Age of Exploration was a time of struggle and wealth for many European countries. The pursuit of a trade route to the Far East led many countries
across the ocean, looking for the great spice cities that were rumored by Marco Polo. These countries knew that whoever found the shortest or best route
would become rich, very quickly. Explorers from many European countries embarked on journeys that not even they had any clue where they were
going. This search for the Far East led to many discoveries that would otherwise have never been found.
Christopher Columbus may have been one of the most influential people ever to live. His...show more content...
The world trade of the period increased to an unprecedented amount. There was new types of businesses, new goods to be sold, and most importantly,
new land to conquer. The exchange of goods from the New World and Europe increased Europe’s wealth, but not only was there an
exchange of goods, but also an exchange of disease.
The first effect of the Age of Exploration, was the finding of the New World. The New World provided opportunities for European countries to conquer
new lands and to obtain wealth while conquering. After Columbus “found'; the New World, there were European explorers embarking on
new journeys there constantly. They would set up new colonies and conquer new lands. From these colonies, they set up trading posts back to their
mother countries. Gold, fur, corn, potatoes, tobacco, chocolate, and many other products were brought back to Europe. The wealth from these products
could only be imagined. The countries would then trade their imports to other countries and make a huge profit.
This influx of money and goods led to the change of the economic systems in Europe. This change caused the Commercial Revolution, or the
establishment of many types of new businesses. The Commercial Revolution was caused not only from the income of the trading of goods, but also
the large amounts of gold an silver that were found and shipped back to

Essay On Age Of Exploration
During the 15th and 16th century, countries such as Portugal set out to find out more about the world in an era called the "Age of Exploration." The
explorers set out on voyages mainly to find sea trade routes to Asia. Vasco da Gama, Christopher Columbus, and Ferdinand Magellan were the
explorers that made the most important breakthroughs. They used different boats, tools, and maps to help them explore.
Although Vasco da Gamasailed around the southern tip of Africa in 1488 to find a trade route to India, he was also looking for other Christian kings
and spices. Da Gama was known as "captain–major" to his crew–mates, and he was an ambassador for Prince Henry. When he landed in India, he gave
two letters to the king of Calicut. In a cultural misunderstanding, Vasco da Gama tried to give gifts to the king that were laughed at because the poorest
merchant would give gifts better than the gift that da Gama gave. Although Vasco da Gama gave the wrong gift to the king, he still

The barca was bigger than the caravel and was used to travel overseas because it had a lot of space for storage and went faster than the caravel; the
caravel was smaller and more maneuverable than the barca and was used to map the details of continents and explore up rivers. During
explorations, explorers used a cross staff or an astrolabe to find their latitude. A cross staff uses the North Star, the Big Dipper, and the horizon to
find the latitude of the ship. An astrolabe was more common than the cross staff because sailors could use any star to find your latitude, even though
it was less accurate. The astrolabe could also use the North Star, Big Dipper, and horizon, but if the North Star wasn't in the sky, the sailors could use
any star. It was also more portable than the cross staff. The two ships and the cross staff and astrolabe helped sailors to explore trade routes to Asia

Age Of Exploration Dbq Essay
During the Renaissance many people were curious about the world, and had a desire to trade. This led to the Age of Exploration, during this time
many nations grew more powerful and influenced the world. Europeans started to explore the world for gold. However while on this journey many
European explorers did things that were great. Such as taken away natives land and rights, killing and mistreating natives, and lastly bringing a disease
that killed thousands. So you then start to ask should these people be remembered today even with all the bad things they've done and brought to the
world. I believe that European explorers, conquistadors and settlers from the Age of Exploration should no longer be glorified and celebrated in
Modern times.
The first reason why Europeans shouldn't be glorified is because they invaded and took over natives land, and took away their rights. In document one
it states that the Spanish conquistadors taught the Indians how to plough the land, sow crops, harvest them, and sell them. The Spanish helped
modernize their technology. The Spanish were really kind to the Indians until the 1550's. Spain established the encomienda system in Latin America.
This system allows the Spanish king to let colonist collect payments from Indians. The Spanish landowners...show more content...
Why would we glorify men who took the lives of many innocent Natives, just to claim land and find gold. That's not a man. A man would not use
violence. Men like that should not be celebrated. You may contradicted what is stated, and say that the Europeans helped advanced technology and
shape our world and did more good than bad, but that's not the case. They wiped out most of Natives population. Europeans, conquistadors, and settlers
might have shaped our world, but they also took from our world; those many incident people. They should not be glorified or celebrated

Age Of Exploration
From the Post Classical Period (600 C.E. – 1450 C.E.) to modern times exploration has changed and yet stayed the same in many ways. Explorers
changed their MODE OF TRANSPORTATION from using boats or canoes to using space shuttles and rovers. The destinations changed from uncharted
territory on earth to exploring outer space. This change was caused by the advancement of technology over time, as well as, over population.
Technology now allows explorers to travel hundreds of thousands of miles in contrast to before when they weren't able to travel more than a hundred
miles because of the fear of bad weather and bad sailing conditions threatening their boat. During the two time periods one of the continuities is the
reason for exploration. The...show more content...
The Polynesian explorers spent a lot of time training for their exploration; they had age–old information that was passed down from past generations of
sailors, which was then memorized. They also had to practice using the information out at sea. This information includes weather patterns, star
formation, and stick chart reading. (which is an early version of a chart) (diveanddiscove.edu.whoi) Astronauts have to spend many years training to go
up to space, their trainings include going through many simulators to practice for what space will be like, being underwater for many hours to simulate
weightlessness, and even taking language classes to be able to communicate with other astronauts. (nasa.gov) Another continuity is the reason for
exploration. The Polynesians needed to travel because of the depletion of resources on their island that was most likely caused by overpopulation. An
additional reason for the exploration was weather conditions that may have affected their food supply; bad climate would result in a bad crop and over
time the tendency to seek better soil. (sea.edu) The reason for space exploration as said by Stephen Hawking is that man, now more than ever should
move to space because of overpopulation, depletion of resources and war. (telegraph.co.uk) Another reason why humans explore is because of their
natural curiosity. Curiosity leads people to ask what is over that hill? And in this case that hill is outer space or the Hawaiian Islands and the way to
answer that is by exploring.

Age Of Exploration Essay
The Age of Exploration was a time period that has had significant influences in the modern world. It was the moment in which Europe was brought
out of the Dark Ages and into an era of discovery. The risks taken within the 15th and 18th century allowed both positive and negative outcomes to be
introduced to the European Exploration. There were many motives for this era, and many outcomes came about. However, they were both negative and
positive. To summarize the motives of this age, a simple combination can be stated. The main purposes of the Age of Exploration wasGod, Gold, and
Glory. One of most evident reasons for the Age of Exploration is to spread the concept of God. In attempt to spread the Christianreligion, missionaries
were often...show more content...
This notion refers to the attainment of fame and titles due to an achievement. All of the men often strived to have a differentiating factor to their name.
Honor and pride was quite important among the men whose society had constantly lost the idea of chivalry and knighthood. Glory provided the
ambition to venture into uncharted territory. Thus contributing to the Age of Exploration. However, the conquests did have a great effects on other
countries. One of the major ones being the spread of diseases. For example, when Columbus came back from the Americas, he introduced the Syphilis
to the Spaniards. Illnesses such as smallpox and measles was distributed around the world. This negatively affected those who were not used to the
symptoms. In addition to this, the expeditions prompted the demolition of native practices. Many societies encountered mistreatment when faced with
the conquistadors of Europe. However, they could not fight against men of greater power. In the end, they could not recover their society and
succumbed to the Europeans.
The Age of Exploration was a major factor of bringing Europe away from the Dark Ages. They took risks that caused positive and negative outcomes
for them and outside forces. Despite the centuries that had passed while in this age, they kept the same basic motives. These were God, Glory, and
Gold. Conclusively, this was the time when Europe
