What do Young people care about in Politics? My ManifestoBite The Ballot
What do Young people care about in Politics?
My Manifesto is not a representative sample of
the youth vote in the UK. Our resources were
limited, and as such many hurdles were met
along the way – however, over 5000 young
people, most of whom were not previously
interested or engaging in politics at all, have
helped shape this booklet through surveys,
focus groups and our Rock Enrol national tour.
It is built with their life experiences, our
experiences in the sector, and the experience
of our collaborators, in mind.
We hope more than anything that this is food
for thought, and can inspire everyone to see
the true value of the youth vote.
Bite the Ballot aims to encourage young
people to make informed decisions at the
ballot box. We want to inspire young people
to take ownership of their individual and
collective futures and become the generation
that champions change in politics.
We aspire to reverse the pattern of poor
electoral turnout, and in giving young people
a voice, we hope to make their votes and
opinions count in the political arena.

Adani SEBI investigation revealed that the latter had sought information from five foreign jurisdictions concerning the holdings of the firm’s foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) in relation to the alleged violations of the MPS Regulations. Nevertheless, the economic interest of the twelve FPIs based in tax haven jurisdictions still needs to be determined. The Adani Group firms classed these FPIs as public shareholders. According to Hindenburg, FPIs were used to get around regulatory standards.

Editor's Notes
e.g. Markets: mobiles have been shown to reduce differences in prices between markets, helping both producers and consumers (though possibly a price paid by traders!).e.g. The new commercial opportunties, new possiblities opened up by money transfer (inc. By govs e.g. For cash transfer schemes)10% increase in mobile phone penetration = nearly 1% increase in economic growth. And not forgetting using for entertainment and enjoyment – a good in its own right!Hugely important – a public service like health, education.
Map shows spread of coverage but still big gaps – geographical exclusionHuge cost to governments: 85% of cost of supplying access is in last 100m. Assumption that it has to be fixed lines, wireless much cheaper but capacity smaller – policy choices and technological development.
Old inequalities also inhibit access to mobile tech (though mobile tech also being used to tackle them, e.g. Literacy).
The cost – MPESA transfer in some parts of Kenya costs the same as a bag of maize.
More competition does tend to lower pricesGovernments can impose conditions on providers to expand into remote areas as condition of license. But regulation is a hugely complicated issue and there are few pointers – the issues in developed and developing countries are very different (e.g. switch from fixed to wireless, cf. rollout of wireless)A lot of it is about what governments are doing already.
