Challenges included poor infrastructure, interoperability issues, and lack of resources and leadership. Recommendations focused on assessments, interoperability, strengthening capacity and coordination.

Personal connected health is currently characterized by limited thought leadership, insufficient coordination and collaboration, and a lack of awareness and understanding of the full potential by all stakeholders: public, providers, policymakers, industry and patients. The Personal Connected Health Alliance is defining the the field of personal connected health to inspire market and policy innovation, research and collective action for sustained adoption of personal connected health technology. Improving Health Information Systems to Meet the Needs of the Health Sector
MEASURE Evaluation is a 5-year, $180 million project funded by USAID to strengthen health information systems in over 25 countries. The presentation discusses MEASURE Evaluation's approach to health information system strengthening, which includes developing a model and sharing experiences from Kenya. The model involves strengthening various components of health information systems, such as policies, infrastructure, data collection and analysis, to produce high-quality data that can inform decision-making at both national and global levels.

Health Information System Performance Monitoring Tool
This document introduces the Health Information System Performance Monitoring Tool (HISPMT), which is designed to help HIS managers systematically review key health information data sources and assess their performance. The HISPMT involves mapping indicators to 12 common data sources, assessing the validity and reliability of each source, and generating automated scores on the demand for and quality of data from each. The tool is intended to inform stakeholders and guide prioritization of investments to strengthen health information systems. A part of the Georgia Tech Grand Challenges Program, Health Empowered is an interdisciplinary team of students working to improve established data collection methods in West Africa in order to amplify the public health response to infectious disease.
