Valea Vinului is a village located at the entrance to Rodna Mountains National Park with around 200 inhabitants. The village offers spectacular natural landscapes intertwined with local legends. It was first documented in 1853 as a small Hungarian Catholic village called Borpatakhoz, but its name later changed to Valea Vinului, which means "Valley of Wine" and refers to the yellowish river running through the area and mineral waters that taste like wine. Another attraction is the "House of Writers", consisting of two buildings and a gazebo where famous Romanian writers like Liviu Rebreanu, George Coşbuc, and Mihail Sadoveanu would meet.
