The Tipping Point has arrived
The fact that electric motorcycles can be ridden in silence without waking neighbors, your
partner, or kids, in the early or late hours wasn’t enough to convince motorcyclists that for
most commuters and their urban hops electric was better than gasoline.
Conventional motorcycles generate intense heat. With an electric there’s no hot exhaust pipes
or searing engine casing to burn your skin. Gasoline-powered motorcycles need shifting, and
with each gear change there is a loss of power. An electric motorcycle doesn’t require any gear
shifting. Gasoline motorcycles vibrate, electric motorcycles are vibration-free. Still, that wasn’t
enough.
No gasoline fumes, no oil leaks, and no chain or belt to worry about because the motor is inside
the rear wheel on DSI bikes. There’s almost nothing to break on an electric motorcycle. Electric
motors run forever without routine maintenance. Still not enough? No!
What about operating costs? An electric motorcycle costs about $8.00 per month or less in
electricity to re-charge. Still not enough.
How about being able to plug the bike into the same electrical outlet used to recharge our
mobile phone or power a vacuum cleaner? Nope.
Riding an electric motorcycle instead of using a gasoline-powered car for local commutes is like
adding 10 trees each year to improve the earth’s ecosystem. Nice; not enough.
9. OK, what did it take to tilt the world away from gasoline and towards electric motorcycles?

The Lightning Electric Motorcycle is now the world’s fastest production motorcycle. It is electric
and it is the world’s fastest.
However, at $38,000 USD the Lightning Electric Motorcycle USD is priced too high to make most
folks comfortable with taking the “electric leap.” We started with this simple goal, anyone
should be able to afford our bikes. We priced our bikes about as low as we could and left open
the option for the buyer to upgrade at the time of purchase or later; maybe after the rider is
certain this is the right vehicle for them. And, if the buyer wants to sell the DSI bike and
upgrade to the Lightning, there’s a good chance of getting most of the purchase price back
when re-selling.
Target Customers & their Projected Percentages
We built our bikes with 4 types of customers in mind:
1. The Alternative- Offer an affordable way for someone that may already have a gasoline motorcycle to
try out a new way of riding. 10%
2. The 2-Wheeled Introduction- Introduce a low cost way of motorcycling to a person that may not have
ever considered riding a bike. 50%
3. The Environmentalist- Instead of polluting the Environmentalist can feel good about protecting the
earth as he or she performs their commutes. 10%
4. Cash-Strapped Youth- An inexpensive mode of transportation for the young woman or man that
doesn’t have a lot of extra money to spend on supporting an automobile. 30%
Looking Back to Prepare for the Future
Our electric motorcycle optimism takes its cue from Honda’s successful Super Cub 50. In
continuous manufacture since 1958 with production surpassing 60 million in 2008, and 100
million in 2016, the Super Cub is the most produced motor vehicle in history. Just as the USA
was ready for the 1963 Japanese “Little Honda,” so too is 2016 ready for our electric
motorcycles to take the world by storm.
