Advocacy Statement
To advocate for high quality, we need to have a change
to the Day Nurseries Act. There should be more
specifics and concrete breakdown of what is expected
of childcare centers to make them high quality. We
want to ensure that every child care centre receives:
•Quarterly Inspections
•Qualified staff with frequent personal development
•Healthy nutrition
•Effective strategies to improve health & safety

Our Questions
 What

are the elements of a quality child

care?
 Are the current standard’s high enough to
ensure quality child care?
 Is the DNA specific enough for the
standard to be met?
 What are the obstacles that effect quality
child care?

Survey for Parents
Most parents who responded to the
survey said the quality of early
learning and child care received at
their centre is good. And they are
satisfied with the services their
childcare centre provides. Why
some parents said they are not
satisfied with services their current
childcare provides because there is
no enough resources for the
children .(Curriculum aspect)

Parent concern when choosing
childcare centre
 Most

parents concern about choosing a
childcare was safety, healthy meals, size
of classroom, welcoming environment
that is respectful, good nutrition, parent
teacher feedback and structural
programs.
02/02/14

Our learning
 From

this survey we learnt that quality childcare is
important to both children and parents. For
children to help them develop their brains in the
early years and for parents to help them make
transitions and support their child’s learning.
