The document summarizes how SQL Plan Directives in Oracle 12c can help address issues caused by cardinality misestimation in the optimizer. It provides an example where the optimizer underestimates the number of rows returned by a query on a table due to not having statistics on correlated columns. In 12c, a SQL Plan Directive is automatically generated after the first execution to capture this misestimation. On subsequent queries, the directive can be used to provide more accurate cardinality estimates through automatic reoptimization or dynamic sampling.

1. The document analyzes whether the Middle East would constitute an optimal currency area by comparing the costs and benefits of adopting a common currency for 13 Middle Eastern countries based on a standard New Keynesian economic model.
2. It finds that some countries like Bahrain, Kuwait, Libya, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria and the UAE have achieved convergence in business cycles and inflation outcomes, indicating more benefits than costs to a currency union, while others like Egypt and Lebanon may have more costs than benefits.
3. The conclusion is qualified by noting that forming a currency union could increase economic integration and that political decisions also play a role, not just economic factors.

Here are a few thoughts on dressing modestly:
- Modesty is about more than just clothing - it's an attitude of humility, respect and moral purity. How we present ourselves physically should reflect our values of honoring both ourselves and others.
- Societal pressures often reduce people, especially women, to sexual objects. Dressing modestly helps resist this and affirm our inherent human dignity beyond physical appearance.
- At the same time, modesty means different things to different cultures and individuals. The most important thing is finding an authentic expression of one's values that feels empowering rather than restrictive.
- Both genders would benefit from focusing less on others' attire and more on cultivating empathy, self-

InstructionsRead the following information about a typical dent.docxLaticiaGrissomzz
Instructions
Read the following information about a typical dental practice:
Community Dental has two offices in the same city — the North office and the South office. These offices offer the same dental services to patients. Patients can make appointments to either office at their convenience to see the dentist of their choice. Both offices are similarly equipped.
The professional staff includes the dentists, hygienists, dental mechanics, and administrative staff (receptionist, billing clerk, and office manager).
Each Community Dental office has a waiting area served by a receptionist who uses a computer to check in patients, schedule one of the examination rooms, and answer the phone. The waiting room has a door opening to the outside. A second door admits patients into the rest of the facility. Background music plays inside the waiting area. There is also a large aquarium on display.
Each examination area is partitioned off from the adjacent ones. Each has a computer and LCD screen used to pull up patient information and record new dental data such as x-ray interpretations, examination and test results, and procedures done for the patient. A low-level sound masking system is installed in this area.
After their treatment, the patient visits the billing clerk’s desk, which of course has a computer and a printer. Here patients pay (cash co-pay, credit card, or check), insurance information is verified, and an appointment is made. This clerk also mails out postcard appointment reminders and answers the phone.
The Community Dental dentists share a private office that has a computer and a printer. Here they can review patient data, access the Internet, and exchange email with their patients, colleagues, and acquaintances.
A database server containing patient data sits in a closet, next to a small tape library used for backup. Next to it sits a VPN server, firewall/router, and cable modem connected to the Internet. The VPN server accepts incoming connections from the dentist’s home computers. It also provides a permanent VPN connection between the North and South Offices. In this way, all patient data is available at all times at either office.
Most patient data is stored electronically on the database server, but some data such as x-rays and third-party labs results are still in physical form. Community Dental also depends on third party service providers to build crowns, braces, false teeth, soft dental protectors, and such. Information is exchanged with service providers using telephone, fax, letter, and email.
The network infrastructure’s management and maintenance are outsourced.
Community Dental also maintains an informative website to advertise its practice. The site is remotely hosted.

Here are the key impacts of the Hawthorne experiments and Human Relations movement on organizations today:
- Increased focus on the social and psychological aspects of work. The experiments highlighted the importance of factors like social interaction, morale, and feelings of value/involvement on worker productivity. Today, organizations recognize the human element in work.
- Greater emphasis on communication and worker participation. The movement led to recognizing workers as stakeholders whose input should be considered. Now, many organizations actively engage workers in decision-making.
- Understanding the workplace as a social system. The view that individual and group behaviors are influenced by social dynamics within the work environment took hold. Modern organizations acknowledge interpersonal dynamics.
- Shift from financial incentives alone
The spiraling cost of laboratory tests (currently estimated at $60-70 billions/year) has
been of major concern to healthcare administrators. A significant increase in testing
costs is also anticipated as a consequence of the Affordable Care Act. Several cost-
containment plans were initiated during the last decades but with limited success.
Two solutions proposed for the cost-containment of the laboratory tests are: a)
building of an informatics structure to support utilization management; b) organization
of the physician education program starting from the residency level. We believe that
this two-pronged effort shall contribute significantly towards controlling the sky-
rocketing cost of laboratory tests.

Sample Physician/Patient Portal
Editor's Notes
Note: On a number of slides I use the slide notes to describe what appears on the slide.
At McKesson, our customers, the pharmaceuticals, often wanted tools to build physician and patient loyalty, influence physician prescribing habits, track sales, etc. This is a prototype to build patient loyalty around a specific cancer therapy which requires monthly infusions. On this and the following slides I did all design and graphics (other than clipart). Typically I would architect and oversee the solution development. As this was a prototype I also did the basic JavaScript and ancillary coding to provide simulated functionality. (I am an expensive resource for operational development; however, prototyping my vision is often the overall least expensive means to a quick and successful end product instead of or in conjunction with abstract specifications.)I will include a slide towards the end with some of my more advanced client-side code to demonstrate my hands-on coding expertise.
This report was available to all staff to give them insight into IT and project status.
These sites were created for 800x600 displays in the pre-high speed Internet era. Netscape was the dominant browser and you can see in the graphics of the Music Depot that I squeezed every last byte out for efficient traversal across the typical 28.8baud modems of that era. Both sites were programmed in ASP (classic) with SQL server. LiveScript (a.k.a. JavaScript) was just emerging at the time and was implemented in CCLI. The Music Depot was so avant-garde that when the wholesaler saw the completed site they pulled out as they immediately saw this as a threat to their traditional sales channel.
Distractions and obstacles have been ruthlessly eliminated and/or removed from focus to drive the desired user behaviour. (Compare to the multi-step process of JDRF’s flagship recruitment tool: https://trials.jdrf.org/patient/index.cfm)
These are sample testimonials from when I had my own healthcare IT consultancy. I am happy to share the complete letters upon request.
