While the media enriches the political discourse through fact-checking, builds a political reputation by connecting the politicians to their constituents and energizes democracy by stimulating political participation, it also has a polarizing effect on the political discourse, can be used for character assassination through fake news, and robs its users of the time they would have used to participate in the political process.
