Creating Sight-Word Sentences
Creating sight word sentences centers helps children develop their literacy skills
as they build and read their own sentences. It’s also a great way to reinforce
sight-word recognition and printawareness. After students complete a sentence,
they write it down in a journalor a sheet of paper. This gives them more practice
writing complete sentences and sightwords. Students could also work with
partners. Onestudent could find a picture-word card to complete the sentence.
Then, the other student read the sentence aloud. After a few sentences students
could switch places completing the sentence and reading it.
