ACLS protocols address tachyarrhythmias like atrial flutter, SVT, atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation, as well as bradyarrhythmias including sinus bradycardia and heart block. For tachycardias, treatment depends on whether the QRS complex is narrow or wide and regular or irregular. For cardiac arrest, ACLS protocols specify defibrillation with escalating joule levels for ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, as well as basic CPR for asystole and PEA.
