Accelerating Clean Energy: Corporate Renewable PPA Forum
The Corporate Renewable PPA Forum aims to increase understanding and use of corporate renewable power purchase agreements (PPAs) globally. It convenes electricity buyers, developers, utilities, and legal and financial stakeholders. The forum organizes workshops and webinars for stakeholders to share insights. It publishes reports and case studies to help other organizations adopt corporate PPAs. It also seeks to address policy barriers through conversations with policymakers and regulators.

- 2. The objective ofthe Corporate Renewable PPA Forum is to increase understanding and use of corporate renewable PPAs – globally. The forum convenes electricity buyers (sustainability and procurement functions), developers / utilities as well as financial and legal stakeholders: • Organises workshops and webinars which provide an independent talking space for all stakeholders; • Publishes reports incl. case studies and best practice examples to allow other actors to move the market together with the members of the forum; • Seeks conversations with policymakers and regulators to address regional and national policy barriers. Buyer (Godrej-RESCO e.g.)Savings of INR 0.87/kWh to 2.75/kwh for buyer company with 8 PPAs across various states in India IDEA - 19% of Idea own towers powered by hybrid solutions. Cumulative installed capacity of RET through Hybrid Installations & PPAs, against Idea’s consumption is approx. 12 MW with estimated annual savings of ₹ 35.7 Million from PPAs alone. Solar constitutes 8.75MW Renewable Energy Certificates : Traded at INR 3.5/kWh & INR 5.8/kWh. Solar RECs not trades presently due to a stay imposed by the Supreme Court over reduced prices to INR 1.0/kWh and INR 2.5/kWh by Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC). Procuring green tariffs : Some markets (and the utilities active in them) allow consumers to purchase green electricity through a special supplier tariff. In this structure the utility contracts with the developer while the corporate buyer contracts with the utility. Examples of this green tariff structure in early 2016 from the US market include Walmart purchasing through Alabama Power from an Origis Energy project. Also, Apple and Switch contracted through NV Energy from SunPower and First Solar projects.
