This presentation is about the National Adaptation Plan Global Support Programme (NAP-GSP). This is a Global Environment Facility (LEF) Least Developed Country Fund (LDCF) financed Global Support Programme to Assist Least Developed Countries (LDCs) with their climate change National Adaptation Plans (NAP) process. The Global Support Programme “supporting LDCs to Advance the National Adaptation Plans (NAPs)” was launched on 14 June 2013, following endorsement of the GEF CEO. Prior to the approval from the GEF/LDCF, 17 countries requested official support from NAP-GSP. These countries include: Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Comoros, Congo, Djibouti, Gambia, Lesotho, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Sudan, and Tanzania. All LDCs that wish to have assistance from the GSP are able to request assistance, as and when required. Specialized UN Agencies collaborating on the NAP-GSP include: United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), World Health Organization (WHO), The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). Other partners include the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and the Global Water Partnership (GWP). Collaborative partnerships are also being formed with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), among others.
