 Full Name : Centre of Indian Trade union
 Founded : 1970
 Affiliation : World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU)
 Today one of biggest trade union in India
 It has strong unchallengeable presence in the Indian
state of Tripura besides a good presence in West
Bengal, Kerala and Kanpur. They have an average presence in Tamil
Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

100 years of Struggles and Sacrifices’
of the Working Class of India
 BEGINNING on 30 May 2019, CITU is going for a year
long celebration of “100 years of struggles and
sacrifices” of the working class of India, since the
formation of the First Trade Union Centre, and “50 years
of fight for unity of the working class” since the
formation of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions.
ISSUES
INVOLVING CITU
4th October 2020
 CITU, AIKS, AIAWU and AIDWA demand Time bound
effective enquiry of Hathras case under the supervision of
Supreme Court.
 Dalit girl who was brutally gang raped and killed by
upper caste landlord men. It is with great difficulty the
delegation was allowed by the police to go the house of
the victim. The village is still cordoned and their
neighbors are terrorized.
 The delegation had to wait for three hours to meet the
family.
 CITU, AIKS, AIAWU and AIDWA demand
Time bound effective enquiry of Hathras case
under the supervision of Supreme Court, Exemplary
punishment to the police officers and other officials who
had derelict their duty.

Country wide workers general strike...
Striking workers, their families and
dependents, and those who were in solidarity
actions and supported the strike across the
country constituted almost half of India’s total
133.92 crore population.

10 demands at the 8th – 9th strike,
which are being pursued unitedly by the trade
unions since 2009. 2 more demands - no change
in labour laws; and no FDI in defence, railways
and insurance - were added before 2015 strike to
resist Modi government’s attacks in these areas.
This strike was also in support of peasants

Striking workers, their families and
dependents, and those who were in solidarity
actions and supported the strike across the
country constituted almost half of India’s
total 133.92 crore population.
With people’s participation workers strike
created Bandh like situation in several states
like in Kerala, Assam and other north eastern
states, Odisha and in several districts of
Karnataka.
