1. Hello! My name is Jillian Fey. I
live in Lexington, Kentucky.
I am originally from Versailles, Kentucky. I
graduated from High School and moved to
Lexington to attend college at the University
of Kentucky.
2. I came to Lexington to meet new friends and figure
out what I wanted to do academically. Coming to
college was the best decision I have made for
myself! I have learned new skills and met amazing
friends I will have forever.
3. I am graduating in May with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Family Science. My minor
is in Psychology. I hope to hold a career
working with children and families in the
counseling field.
4. I worked at Maxwell Elementary School for over
two years. There I learned a lot about kids at the
school age. I have learned many different ways to
talk to them and help them learn and understand
new skills. Working there has taught me how to
communicate with young children.
I did an internship at Maxwell Elementary. I wanted to work
at the front desk at the after school program to get new
insight to working with families. I wanted experience with
parents as well so I interned as a book keeper.
I did my second internship at Mercer County Elementary
School. I interned in the special education classroom.
5. I have taken several different courses in
college to prepare myself to work with
families and children. I took a Social Work
class that focused on family financials. I
learned how to counsel families and teach
them make budget plans. I also took a
family finance class that taught me about
loans, mortgages, insurances, budgets,
incomes and lots more!
6. • I am very positive!
• I am always productive, punctual and responsible.
• I don’t leave work until all of my duties are
complete and done the right way.
• If I did a task wrong, I take the initiative to ask
questions, learn and get it done the right way as
quick as possible.
• I like to learn and I am a fast learner.
7. I have always been interested in working with children and
families. When researching majors at UK, Family
Science caught my eye and I have loved studying it! I
would love to do jobs ranging from social work to
counseling.
8. In the future, I may go
on to graduate school.
I plan to go into counseling.
I want to work with children by
giving them therapy.
I want to be a family counselor.
9. If I don’t attend graduate school, I’d
like to pursue a career in child life. I
want to work in a hospital and
counsel children and their families
as they go through major surgeries
and procedures.
