A simple exercise to demonstrate benefits of Integrated Project Delivery used wood blocks, playing cards and dice to replicate real world building methods. First traditional methods are used to build a wood block castle and then IPD methods are used. It becomes clear that IPD is faster and more efficient.

The case study discusses the potential of drone delivery and the challenges that need to be addressed before it becomes widespread.
Key takeaways:
Drone delivery is in its early stages: Amazon's trial in the UK demonstrates the potential for faster deliveries, but it's still limited by regulations and technology.
Regulations are a major hurdle: Safety concerns around drone collisions with airplanes and people have led to restrictions on flight height and location.
Other challenges exist: Who will use drone delivery the most? Is it cost-effective compared to traditional delivery trucks?
Discussion questions:
Managerial challenges: Integrating drones requires planning for new infrastructure, training staff, and navigating regulations. There are also marketing and recruitment considerations specific to this technology.
External forces vary by country: Regulations, consumer acceptance, and infrastructure all differ between countries.
Demographics matter: Younger generations might be more receptive to drone delivery, while older populations might have concerns.
Stakeholders for Amazon: Customers, regulators, aviation authorities, and competitors are all stakeholders. Regulators likely hold the greatest influence as they determine the feasibility of drone delivery.

A Week of Federal Asset Management Leadership in Washington, D.C.
1. Multiple Successes Achieved During a Week of Asset Leadership in Washington, D.C.
Short summary of key activities followed by a Photo Essay
October 24, 2015, Washington, D.C. – by Michael Bordenaro, Asset Leadership Network Communications Team Leader
Federal Agency support for ISO 55000 asset management; well-received Asset Leadership Impact Awards; and, strong,
bipartisan interest in asset management from key Congressional offices were all registered during a week-long series of
Asset Leadership Network events in Washington, D.C. from October 19 – 23, 2015.
Centered on the Federal Leadership in Asset Management Policy Forum in the historic National Academy of Sciences,
Engineering, and Medicine facilities on the National Mall, October 20 - 21, the week revealed our Federal Government is
ready to implement improved asset management policies to better support mission objectives and save taxpayer
dollars.
The Policy Forum was co-sponsored by the Federal Facilities Council of the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering,
and Medicine (FFC Link) and the Asset Leadership Network. Featuring presentations and contributions from many high-
level Federal Executives (Agenda Link), Policy Forum interactive discussions revealed many existing asset management
best practices already in place within sectors and a unified desire for the guidance of ISO 55000 Asset Management
Systems policies and practices.
Alex Kurien, Deputy Associate Administrator, Office of U.S. Government-Wide Policy, General Services
Administration stated, “Although I am extremely busy managing eight policies protecting the interests of the American
people, I made time to participate in this Asset Management Forum because supporting advanced asset management
processes, such as adopting ISO 55000, is a clear path to enhancing the stewardship of our Federal Assets and saving
taxpayer dollars.”
The Asset Leadership Impact Awards Reception and Dinner at the National Press Club recognized individuals and
organizations for their significant impact in asset management programs and processes The Asset Leadership Network
recognized:
● The National Guard Bureau and the Army National Guard for their use of ISO 55000 to help tie assets to mission;
● The DoD, VA, OMB and NAVFAC for their collaborative efforts to improve management of real property and
personal assets;
● Rep. Patrick Murphy (FL-18) for the introduction of the bipartisan Savings, Accountability, Value, and Efficiency
Act (SAVE Act) to improve Federal asset disposition; and,
● Renowned author Dag Detter for his insight into the management of public assets described in “The Public
Wealth of Nations.”
A day of Legislative Briefings to the offices of numerous U.S. Senators and Representatives resulted in positive,
bipartisan responses for the potential adoption of ISO 55000 concepts to improve the Federal Government. Organized
for the ALN by The Chwat Group (Link), the Legislative Briefings resulted produced consistent interest in simple, short
language that can be added to the budget or to into active legislation. Opportunities and proven solutions, rather than a
recitation of problems, powered the conversations. The consistent, positive interest assured the Asset Leadership
Network that a Legislative Brief will well be received in both Republican and Democratic offices.
2. Also during the week, the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (US/TAG) for ISO 55000 meet to discuss an upcoming
international gathering in Japan and the Asset Leadership Network Executive Team meet to discuss immediate
legislative strategy and overall objectives for 2016.
All combined, the week-long series of activities highlighted the consensus approach to ISO 55000 promotion by Asset
Leadership Network Executive Team and provided positive visibility to Patrons Jacobs Engineering, Attainia, Trimble and
Ascot Associates.
