Families offer us a unique insight into God's process of restoration. It was a family that fell in the garden and today it is families that are restoring God's image.
3. Gen 1:26
Then God said, "Let Us make human beings in Our
image, to be like Us. They will reign over the fish in
the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the
wild animals on the earth, and the small animals
that scurry along the ground. :27 So God created
human beings in His own image. In the image of
God He created them; male and female He created
them.

5. You are not the
byproduct of a process
of blind luck that
shows how wonderful
nature is. But the
intended creation of a
loving Father to show
how magnificent He is.

7. Gen 3:1-7
The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the LORD
God had made. One day he asked the woman, "Did God really
say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the
garden?”:2 "Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the
garden," the woman replied. :3 "It's only the fruit from the tree
in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God
said, 'You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will
die.’” :4 "You won't die!" the serpent replied to the woman. :5
"God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it,
and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.”
8. Gen 3:1-7
:6 The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree
was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she
wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took
some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to
her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.
:7 At that moment their eyes were opened, and
they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So
they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves
You may have heard that
50 percent of all marriages end in divorce; 2) most marriages that do happen to make it are, nonetheless, unhappy, and 3) Christians are just as likely to divorce as non-believers.
But according to Shaunti Feldhahn, a Harvard-trained researcher and author. In her recently released book, “The Good News About Marriage: Debunking Discouraging Myths about Marriage and Divorce,” (//www.westernjournalism.com/flash-christians-actually-far-less-likely-divorce/?utm_medium=fbshare&utm_source=SiteShare&utm_campaign=social.)
“‘First-time marriages: probably 20 to 25 percent have ended in divorce on average,’ the study revealed. CBN noted that “[T]he 50 percent figure came from projections of what researchers thought the divorce rate would become as they watched the divorce numbers rising in the 1970s and early 1980s.
“‘But the divorce rate has been dropping,’ Feldhahn said. ‘We’ve never hit those numbers [the 50 percent figure]. We’ve never gotten close.’”
“And it’s even lower among churchgoers, where a couple’s chance of divorcing is more likely in the single digits or teens,” added CBN.
Additionally, the study determined that four-out-of-five marriages are happy. “That number flies in the face of the popular belief that only about 30 percent of marriages are happy.”
“‘The studies show that if they stay married for five years, that almost 80 percent of those will be happy five years later,’ she concluded.” “‘The Good News About Marriage’ also reveals the divorce rate among those active in their church is 27 to 50 percent lower than among non-churchgoers,” noted the report. “Feldhahn’s hope is that once people learn the truth that they will spread it far and wide.”
Man lost “the image of God” because they could not stand together in unity against the serpent. God gave them the truth and then left them to live it. The serpent tested their faith and they failed.
How often has man gotten into trouble because he tries to please the women (the same is true the other way around)
How often do we fail to teach others the truth? Adam did not reinforce with Eve that witch God had said.
To continue in faith we have to listen, deliver and live in unity.
So today we are being restored into the image of God we are getting back to the original idea. To do this we follow the same steps, we listen, we deliver and we live the truth in the face of an crafty enemy that tries to lead us astray. In order to do this we need guardrails.
Protection – Guardrails create a zone of discomfort that becomes the new area that I want to avoid. (Driving in main land Europe)
Direction – Guardrails point me into a direction. (Guardrails on highways follow and indicate turnoffs)
Andy Stanley - It’s a standard of personal behavior, which means you pick your own, you make it up for yourself. And I’ve given you some suggestions, a standard of personal behavior that becomes a matter of conscience.
Spiritual – The abyss I try and avoid is missing out on relationship with God i.e. pride and the purpose is to love God.
Bible – Daily interaction with the scripture
Prayer – Pray without ceasing, pray for every problem
Community – Accountability and service
Relational – Showing love and avoiding harm
Speak and Show love
Never break down
Be quick to forgive and ask forgiveness
How and what of relating to the opposite sex.
Financial – Avoiding greed and keeping the right tension between hoarding and spending to honour God.
“Greed is simply the assumption that it’s all for my consumption.” Andy Stanley
