3. Landscape Catalogues of Catalonia
Act 8/2005 of 8th of June for protection, management and planning of the
landscape in Catalonia:
“Documents of a descriptive and prospective nature which define the various
types of landscapes in Catalonia, identify their values and state of preservation
and propose the landscape quality objectives which need to be met.”

will receive special treatment due to their landscape value.
These are located in Figueres, Vilabertran, (…) In these cases,
possible new expansion will be integrated harmoniously
Into pre-existing structures, while also respecting their uniqueness.
Therefore, municipal urban planning schemes in the aforementioned
settlements will have to protect and plan the heritage of cypress tree windbreaks and tree-lined enclosures
of greater landscape interest, in addition to planning, managing and recovering the rest of them.

12. Both the Administration and the economic
and social agents have gradually understood
the work that has been carried out, but there is
still work to be done.
Catalonia is undergoing very deep changes
(economic crisis, social uncertainty, transition
towards a new system of values...).
Now that the main lines of the Landscape Law
are consolidated, we are embarking on a new
approach, for which it has designed a
roadmap called CATPAISATGE 2020.
Nine years after the Landscape Law was passed...
Focused on the characterization of the
landscapes of Catalonia, setting up the
instruments envisaged in the Landscape Law,
and helping to integrating landscape in spatial
planning, among other initiatives.

Landscapes that mantain, reinforce and
develop their own identity and personality
have more possibilities to prosper than
those which are homogeneous or banal.
The image that a territory projects to the
world also depends on the quality of its
landscapes.

15. The Landscape Catalogue identified a landscape character, an
identity, that has been used by the local city halls of Els Aspres to
create a public consortium aimed at valorising the area, their
heritage, their local products… their landscape at the end.
