Cuento sencillo, escrito para una clase de inglés, hace muchos años.

1. A meeting in the mountain.
The King of the Jungle told his friends:
- Last week, I went to the Mountain. I walked many hours and arrived in the afternoon and saw the last
Sun’s beams and our home, The Valley. I heard the birds. I was thankful with God of everything.
Suddenly, somebody called me, I turned and saw a good friend. The Big Bear. He is intelligent, simple,
cheerful, tall and fat. He was with his arms folded.
He wondered the reason of my visit. I told him:
- I want to be a good king and I want to know all the secrets about nature in The Valley and in The
Mountain. I want you to show me The Mountain’s secrets.
The Big Bear laughed but then, he apologized and told me:
- I suppose you are tired. Please, follow me to my cave, you can sleep there and tomorrow we are going
to go to the top of The Mountain.
- Let’s do it now, I replied.
He didn’t speak. He walked to his cave and I followed him. I knew his cave, it was simple and roomy.
Inside there was The Old Owl. He is short but very wise and watcher. He wears glasses and he doesn’t
fly anymore but he walks very well.
I saw him busy doing something and I asked him:
- What are you doing, Old Owl?
- I am making a basket, answered me. Yesterday I made another one. The Eagle got vegetal fiber. It has
to be perfectly tied.
Then he said:
- Do you blackberries?
- Yes, I told him.
- The basket is for blackberries, explained. Tomorrow we will go to eat blackberries. You are the King
and you must be able to enjoy simple things: The Mountain, The Valley, work, friends...and
blackberries.
At night, before going to sleep, I saw a flute in the wall and I asked them:
- Whose the flute is that?
The Big Bear answered:

2. - It is his, he said it looking at The Old Owl. He enjoys playing the flute as everything he does.
The Old Owl added:
- It is too late. Let’s sleep a little bit. We have to leave early.
In that moment, The King of the Jungle stopped his narration and said:
- As you know, yesterday, I came back. I arrived satisfied of what I saw and learned. Tomorrow I will
tell you more. By now, let’s do our work and enjoy doing it.
