Apple has announced the introduction of a new version of its Apple TV and iPad range. With approximately 70 million iPads forecast to be shipped in 2012 (71% up on 2011), there remains an insatiable appetite for Apple products around the world. Whilst neither announcement is especially ground-breaking, the success of the iPhone 4S, which was greeted with hoots of derision by tech-blogs, shows that the general public doesn’t seem to care. There are multiple additional features and upgrades with no major price hike so these latest announcements are unlikely to see this demand change significant and if anything could well increase it.

This Tuesday, Apple revealed some great new products including an LTE capable Apple Watch and a few new iPhone models. Check out Epsilon's recap of the event below and the implications this hardware will have for marketers.
• What is the company offering consumers by launching this product? What segment and
target are served? What needs are covered?
• What variables have been used for market segmentation? Is there any niche?
• Is something extremely different in the new product or just an improvement of a
previous one? Is there any negative attribute that the product is introducing to the
market? Why?
• Is the brand showing/communicating its competitive advantage to consumers? How?
• In your opinion, what are the key aspects that made the launch a success?
• When a new service or product succeeds, competitors react by launching similar
products or services. In this case, do you think that entry barriers for new competitors are
high or low? Why? Analyze competitors’ reactions.
• Go further: What other marketing initiatives could be implemented?

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. A look at the new i pad
1. A Look at the NewiPad
The new iPad is out! It‟s time to sell your iPad 2 for the new iPad, because it blows the
iPad 2 away in every way.
You‟ve probably heard that the new iPad was released in March. Well it‟s true. While
the new iPad may have not made an impact like the release of the iPhone 4S did, the
new iPad still fared very well. Apple has posted great initial sales numbers of the new
iPad.
What makes the new iPad better than the iPad 2? Let‟s take a look and find out.
Design
When you look at the new iPad, you‟d
mistake it for the iPad 2. The design is
virtually unchanged. Upon close inspection
though, there are differences, but subtle
ones.
For example, the new iPad is 0.03 inches
thicker than the iPad 2. That means the new
iPad is 0.37 inches thick. It also weighs 1.44
pounds, which is 0.11 pounds heavier than
2. the iPad 2.
While these differences are minimal, you really won‟t feel much anyway. Holding the
new iPad is just the same as holding the iPad 2.
The placements of the other buttons are the same. You‟ll find the home button at the
bottom portion, with the volume control and mute switch on the right. The sleep button is
located on top, along with the headphone jack. The familiar iPod port is located under
the home button.
4G LTE
One of the biggest things to hit the mobile
communications world right now is 4G LTE. Big
carriers such as Verizon and AT&T already have
4G LTE networks. They offer download and
upload speeds faster than 3G and HSPA+
networks.
This means that the new iPad is faster than most
Smartphones out there right now. If you‟re in a
place with good coverage, you can get speeds of more than 20 mbps!
The new iPad marks Apple‟s foray into 4G LTE technology. This is the first true 4G
device of Apple. The iPhone 4S is only HSPA+. While not faster than 4G LTE, HSP+ is
faster than 3G. For purposes of convenience, people usually call it “3G-ish” connection.
Screen
The screen of the new iPad is a wonder to
behold. So much that it actually merits a funny
term for Apple‟s marketing division –
Resolutionary. It‟s a portmanteau of
„resolution‟ and „revolutionary,‟ and the new
iPad definitely lives up to the hype.
With the iPad 2, you‟re given a 1024 by 768
screen resolutions. While it looks great, Apple
raised the bar. They doubled the pixels!
3. The new iPad has a screen resolution of a whopping 2048 by 1536 pixels. It‟s like super
HD! Everything that you view on the new iPad looks nice.
The keyboard characters are very smooth. That goes the same for the menus, pictures
and everything else. What‟s more, plenty of popular developers are optimizing their
appsto make use of the new screen. Expect to see plenty of appsemerge on the App
store in the future.
Conclusion
So these three features are pretty much the most noteworthy. Other things like a better
camera are included, but they pale in comparison to the new screen and 4G LTE
speeds.
Sell your iPad 2 now to get the new iPad! You can also trade in ipad 2 or sell electronics
for cash.
