The Merit and Needs-Based Scholarship Program (MNBSP) is a partnership between USAID and Pakistan's HEC that aims to provide greater access to higher education. It offers full scholarships and living stipends to Pakistani students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees at 21 partner universities. Students must demonstrate financial need and meet academic standards. The program has increased higher education institutions offering financial aid from 2 to over 50 since 2004. It plans to award 3,000 scholarships in its next phase, with half reserved for women.

 An initiative of the U.S. Agency for International
Development (USAID) in partnership with the
Pakistan Higher Education Commission (HEC),
the Merit and Needs-Based Scholarship
Program (MNBSP) aims to provide greater
access to education for young people from
underserved communities in Pakistan.
In order to achieve this goal, the program
provides full-tuition scholarships and living
stipends to Pakistani youth who wish to pursue
undergraduate or master’s-level studies
through any of the program’s 21 partner
universities.

 In order to be eligible for a scholarship,
students must demonstrate financial need
and meet the academic admissions criteria
of the program’s partner institutions.
Scholarships can be used for a wide range
of courses of study, including engineering,
business, medicine, and social sciences.
HEC spreads awareness about the program
and attracts applications through a
combination of school visits, media
campaigns, and online promotions.

 In addition to the provision of scholarships,
MNBSP aims to help the universities expand
and improve their financial aid capacity.
The program offers technical assistance to
its partner institutions to standardize the
scholarship program administration process
and to stimulate other donor-led
scholarship programs. As a result of these
efforts, the number of higher education
institutions in Pakistan offering financial aid
programs to students has increased from
two to over 50 since 2004.

 Having awarded over 1,800 scholarships
during its first phase of operation, MNBSP is
currently preparing for a second, expanded
phase during which 3,000 scholarships will
be made available. Furthermore, as a result
of legislation recently passed by the U.S.
House of Representatives, at least half of
these new scholarships will be reserved for
women, a significant step forward in the
ongoing mission to promote and improve
women’s education in developing
countries.

To make higher education more accessible and successful in the world today, the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) is a new concept. Successful learning adaptation requires the transfer of credits and the acknowledgment of academic accomplishment. Recognition of credits is the process by which one educational organisation verifies that the educational experiences gained and assessed at another institution meet the requirements of one of their courses. The use of Academic Bank of Credits allows for a more adaptable method of curriculum building and design while also encouraging transparency. The credit system at this university is designed to accommodate different curricula while encouraging students to explore beyond traditional academic boundaries. The purpose of this research is to educate the audience about the Academic Bank of Credit. The demand for flexible and transferable credits in the education system led to the creation of the Academic Bank of Credits. In the past, students had a hard time moving their credits from one school to another because of the many credit systems and curriculums. Students and schools alike wasted time, energy, and materials because of this.
