On 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance over 2000 volunteers participated in 61 service projects across Orange County, including many that served military veterans. Key events included the Santa Ana Feed 2000 where 450 families were fed and the People Helping People Festival where 454 volunteers and 33 nonprofits participated. OneOC also led a signature event at KidWorks where volunteers helped with projects like painting a mural, making welcome packets, and military thank you cards. The Home Depot Foundation provided supplies that helped homeless veterans at the Orange County Stand Down, where 159 veterans were served.
Land Conservancy of Adams County - Successful Fall Classic Road RallyJohn Weaner York County
John Weaner held a position as an executive loan officer and vice president of AgChoice Farm Credit and spent almost three decades with the company in York County, PA. An active member of the community in York County, John Weaner also served as a board member for the Land Conservancy in nearby Adams County. The organization helps protect rural lands through easements.
The Plate Pledge appeal was launched to raise awareness and funds to help address child hunger and food insecurity. The appeal was sparked by a 233% increase in self referrals between 2011/12 primarily because of hunger. Many of the children who predominantly referred themselves to Kids Company experienced poor nutrition and nutrition related illnesses. For some children, their situation was so bad that they admitted to foraging in bins for food because there was nothing at home.
The campaign raised awareness of childhood hunger in the national media and gave hungry and vulnerable children a voice through the “HUNGRY CHILDHOODS” art exhibition.

One of the things we're particularly proud of is the spirit of giving that lives in each of our associates. It is that spirit that led us to create the Quill Soul Board. The Soul Board's mission is to create a sense of community and teamwork among our associates by encouraging participation in local community activities that support our 3 areas of focus:
– Breast cancer awareness, research and education
– Events/activities in local schools
– Giving back to surrounding communities
It is our goal to spotlight activities and charities in which our associates and departments are already involved, provide information on volunteer opportunities and make it easy for associates to engage in community activities. Here's what our employees have been doing:
The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County. Last year, the Food Bank distributed 22 million pounds of food, and the Food Bank serves, on average, 400,000 people per month in San Diego County.

Connections 2015: A Guide For Formerly Incarcerated People in New York CityJermaine Taylor
Connections: A Guide for Formerly Incarcerated Individuals
Access Connections (PDF), an annual guide and directory of resources in New York City available to help people when they are released from incarceration. Connections also serves as a guide on preparing for the world of work. We are proud to publish the most exhaustive reentry guidebook in New York City. The booklet is free to those in jail and prison, and to agencies that provide services to justice-involved people.
Because of our limited print run, we ask that community based organizations try to rely on the PDF version of Connections to use with their clients. Relevant pages can be easily printed. This will allow us to have enough print copies to fill requests from soon-to-be-released individuals who have no access to the Internet at their facilities.
