Press Release

  1. 1. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Fayetteville to Host 2015 Create West Virginia Conference FAYETTEVILLE,WV – Create West Virginia has announced that their highly anticipated 2015 Conference will be held in the community of Fayetteville, WV. Set to take place September 24th -26th, the event will mark Create West Virginia’s eighth annual conference. Each year, the Create West Virginia conference brings together hundreds of the state's brightest community leaders, entrepreneurs, educators, technology innovators, and interested citizens for hands-on workshops, world-class keynote addresses, and engaging networking events; all focused on strengthening the Innovation Economy in West Virginia communities and organizations. Jeff James,President of Create West Virginia’s Board of Directors, believes that Fayetteville’s natural beauty and creative atmosphere can energize and motivate conference attendees. “Fayetteville will be an inspirational backdrop for Create WV 2015,” James said. “The community represents a fusion of the natural outdoor beauty that West Virginia offers with an innovative spirit that has led our state’s world-class adventure tourism industry, a thriving arts scene, and a growing restaurant culture. Attendees will be inspired by our hosts as they learn practical innovation skills and new economy strategies.” Community leaders in Fayetteville agree their community is a perfect choice for this year’s conference. Sally Kiner, Executive Director of the Historic Fayetteville Convention and Visitors Bureau, noted the community’s many assets:“Fayetteville has something for everyone. The town offers a diverse selection of shops and eclectic dining options. Lodging is available from primitive camping to luxury vacation rentals. Art, Civil War history, a farmers market, year- round live theater, and local music are all right here. Fayetteville has retained its small town charm with a modern twist.” While Fayetteville’s appeal to travelers makes it a great choice for any conference, the story of its evolution from a struggling small town into a thriving destination community is especially relevant to those looking to revitalize their own hometowns. According to Kiner, “Fayetteville continues to reinvent itself. It has built upon its history and invited in a diverse community. Fayetteville demonstrates that change can be good and much can be gained from trying something new.” Holly Clark, founder of community organization Create Fayetteville, noted that Fayetteville can serve as an example for individuals and organizations hoping to strengthen the creative economy in their own communities. “Fayetteville has begun making strides in recent years to foster the arts, environmental stewardship, and local food production,” Clark said. “It will be a treat to have folks showcase efforts underway in each of these areas during the Create WV conference.” Those interested in learning more about the 2015 Create West Virginia conference can attend an open community meeting on Tuesday, February 24, at 6:00 p.m. at the CathedralCafé in downtown Fayetteville. Refreshments will be provided. To RSVP or for additional information, please contact Courtney Forbes at courtney@createwv.org. Conference details will be made available later this spring at www.createwv.org.
