9 Key Pillars for Making Great
Presentations
By Gabriele Toninelli
Always start with an index. It will tell your audience which are the
key points of your presentation, so everyone will be prepared and
more willing to listen to you. Never forget it!
Readability is everything. Be sure to make your text clear and easy
to read for everyone, in every situation (also in well lighted rooms).
Choose stunning professional
images to make your
message stand out. The
quality of your presentation
will increase dramatically.
Be concise: remember you have to grab people’s attention with few
words, otherwise they will lose their focus and waste time reading
your useless lines rather than listening to your captivating speech.
It’s a shame, really. I mean, really, you have to go straight to the
point in your slides, and to use your space wisely. Don’t forget this,
it’s important, ok? Seriously, remember to review your presentation
cutting out the unnecessary fluff. I always do this, for example. I
think I’m quite good at it, don’t you?
DON’T OVERUSE BOLDS, ITALICS, CAPITALIZED WORDS AND SO
ON. THE AUDIENCE IS MORE WILLING TO READ CLEAR PHRASES
WRITTEN IN PLAIN TEXT.
Focus on no more than one key topic per slide. Ah, and remember
to include links to your email and social profiles at the end, so
people can easily contact you.
Be consistent in style: use the same font styles, font sizes,
theme, layout and color patterns in all your slides. Your
presentation must be immediately recognizable.
Use bullet points, they’ll help you a) improve the readability of your
slides b) define sub-topics c) be more concise d) deliver your
message in a memorable way.
Bewar of typos: theyll istantly lower teh percived quality of your
work an make you seem quite dumb. Always doble check your
slides and, if your not confident with your proufreading skils, get
external help.
Thank you
