Wealth and power may matter less in some societies depending on which of three main anarchist beliefs - Hobbesian, Grecian, or Cartesian - is most accepted. Bipolarity is common in Hobbesian societies but not those influenced by other philosophies. While the end of manic depression marked a structural shift in 1991, cultural changes are typically referred to as "structural changes". New anthropological thinking suggests that state identities and goals result from basic interaction processes.
