Ephesians 2
And you were dead in the trespasses
and sins …
SINNERS ARE WE
in which you once walked, following the
course of this world …
WE HAVE A PAST
… following the prince of the power of the
air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons
of disobedience—
3 among whom we all once lived in the
passions of our flesh, carrying out the
desires of the body and the mind, and were
by nature children of wrath, like the rest of
mankind.
WE HAVE A LEADER
---
WE FOLLWED WELL
WE ARE CHILDREN
OF WRATH
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of
the great love with which he loved us,
5 even when we were dead in our
trespasses, made us alive together with
Christ—by grace you have been saved—
WE WERE SERVED
GRACE
GRACE WORKS
WHEN THERE IS SIN
6 and raised us up with him and seated us
with him in the heavenly places in Christ
Jesus,
7 so that in the coming ages he might show
the immeasurable riches of his grace in
kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
GRACE: KINDNESS
and RAISING
SOMEONE UP!
8 For by grace you have been saved
through faith. And this is not your own
doing; it is the gift of God,
9 not a result of works, so that no one may
boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in
Christ Jesus for good works, which God
prepared beforehand, that we should walk
in them.

Timothy 2 “…entrust to reliable people who will
also be qualified to teach others.”
“what kind of legacy are you going to leave?
An Abundant Life.
Our generation today is searching for
something that will last forever: Life.
We wish for life. Jesus is life in:
John 10:10
“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and
destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and
satisfying life.”
THE JOHN 10:10 PROJECT explores the
abundant life Jesus promised.
How can we experience lasting joy, peace and
purpose in a world often dominated by
discouragement and fear?
What does John 10:10 mean?
Jesus has made two analogies about His
ministry using a topic very familiar to His
listeners: shepherding.
The first relied on the idea that sheep
instinctively listened only to the voice of their
particular shepherd, and no other.
“Everything will end, But Jesus will never end”

2 Timothy 2:2 NIV
“And the things you have heard me say in
the presence of many witnesses

be qualified to teach others
Young Timothy was coached and instructed by
Apostle Paul, to pursue godly legacy and pass
it on to faithful men who are able to coach
others.
“The greatest legacy we can leave is the lives
we have influenced for Christ
throughout our journey” –Bill Keller
NINONGS AND NINANGS
choice is very important!
PURSUE means to follow, to go after.
Every person is pursuing something:
a career, wealth,
success for the family,
healthy relationship,
or opportunity to travel and work in abroad.
As the need arise, the effort behind that
pursuit increases.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but
what if pursuing those things ultimately
isn’t healthy or good along the way?
As a Christian Coach* we need to
Pursue Truth, Life and Team, so we can
first be confident in ourselves before
passing on a godly legacy to the next
generation.
Legacy is simply what you leave
behind, the contribution that
remains after you are gone.
A legacy is the way you are
remembered based on the
principles you stood for the lives
you impacted, and the reputation
you developed.
For better or worse, we all leave a
legacy.
Make sure as you pursue Christ,
leave a lasting legacy to next
generation that will inherent the
kingdom of God.
To Pursue Legacy you and I must:
a. Pursue Truth THE TOOLS
b. Pursue Life THE SECRET
c. Pursue Team THE RIPPLE
What is a LEGACY?
1. a gift by will, especially of money
or other personal property.
2. something transmitted by
or received from an ancestor
or predecessor.
• Legacies belong to people who are
powerful, wealthy, and famous.
Our world says:
• Legacies are determined in the
milestone moments of life.
What does God say?
• Everyone leaves a legacy, and some
of the most extraordinary legacies
belong to the most ordinary
people.
• Legacies are the sum total of the daily
decisions of life.
Legacy can be
anything that lasts
beyond your own
generation …
2. Joseph is remembered as a man
of FORGIVENESS.
1. Joseph is remembered as a man
of LOYALTY.
3. Joseph is remembered as a man
of PERSPECTIVE.
4. Joseph is remembered as a man
of FAITH.
What does God say about legacies?
• Everyone leaves a legacy, and some of
the most extraordinary legacies
belong to the most ordinary
people.
• Legacies are the sum total of the daily
decisions of life.
Our Response
1. How do you want to be remembered?
What legacy do you want to leave
behind?
2. What epitaph do you want on your
tombstone? Write it out in 20 words
or less.

MULTIGENERATIONAL LEGACIES
Jonathan Edwards, was a Puritan
Preacher in the 1700s. He was one of
the most respected preachers in his
day. He attended Yale at the age of
thirteen and later went on to become
the president of Princeton college.
He married his wife Sara in 1727 and
they were blessed with eleven children.
Every night when Mr. Edwards was
home, he would spend an hour
conversing with his family and then
praying a blessing over each child.
Jonathan and his wife Sarah passed on
a great, godly legacy to their eleven
children.
An American educator, A.E. Winship
decided to trace the descendants of
Jonathan Edwards almost 150 years
after his death. His findings are
remarkable, especially when compared
to another man from the same time
period known as Max Jukes.
Jonathan Edwards’ legacy includes:
1 U.S. Vice-President,
1 Dean of a law school,
1 dean of a medical school,
3 U.S. Senators,
3 governors,
3 mayors,
Jonathan Edwards’ legacy includes:
13 college presidents,
30 judges,
60 doctors,
65 professors,
75 Military officers,
80 public office holders,
Jonathan Edwards’ legacy includes:
100 lawyers,
100 clergymen,
and 285 college graduates.
How may this be explained?
Edwards was a godly man, but he was
also hard working, intelligent and moral.
Furthermore, Winship states, “Much of
the capacity and talent, intensity and
character of the more than 1,400 of
Edwards’ family is due to Mrs.
Edwards.”
Max Jukes’ legacy came to
people’s attention when the family trees
of 42 different men in the New York
prison system were traced back to him.
He lived in New York at about the same
period as Edwards.
The Jukes family originally was studied
by sociologist Richard L. Dugdale in
1877.
Jukes’ descendants included:
7 murderers,
60 thieves,
190 prostitutes,
150 other convicts,
310 paupers,
and 440 who were physically wrecked
by addiction to alcohol.
Of the 1,200 descendants that were
studied, 300 died prematurely.
These contrasting legacies provide an
example of what some call the
five-generation rule.
“How a parent raises their child
— the love they give, the values they
teach, the emotional environment they
offer, the education they provide
— influences not only their children but
the four generations to follow, either for
good or evil.”
What a challenging thought!
If someone studied your descendants
four generations later, what would you
want them to discover?
Do you want an Edwards’ legacy or a
Jukes’ legacy? The life you live will
determine the legacy you leave!
THERE is a KEY …
THERE could be a TURN
AROUND for everyone!!!

We're pilgrims on the journey
Of the narrow road,
And those who've gone before us
Line the way.
Cheering on the faithful,
Encouraging the weary,
Their lives a stirring testament
To god's sustaining grace.
O may all who come behind us
Find us faithful,
May the fire of our devotion
Light their way.
May the footprints that we leave,
Lead them to believe,
And the lives we live
Inspire them to obey.
O may all who come behind us
Find us faithful.
Surrounded by so great
A cloud of witnesses,
Let us run the race
Not only for the prize,
But as those who've gone before us.
Let us leave to those behind us,
The heritage of faithfulness …
Passed on thru godly lives.
After all our hopes and dreams
Have come and gone,
And our children sift thru all
We've left behind,
May the clues that they discover,
And the mem'ries they uncover,
Become the light that leads them,
To the road we each must find.
