The document summarizes the biblical prophecy of the 6th trumpet in Revelation and provides historical context relating to the fall of the Ottoman Empire. It describes how the 6th trumpet was fulfilled through the loosening of "four angels" which represented the four principal sultanates of the Ottoman Empire along the Euphrates River. These sultanates gained independence starting in 1449 and led to the conquest of Constantinople in 1453, ending the Byzantine Empire. The period of the Ottoman supremacy over Greece and the Eastern Roman Empire lasted 391 years and 15 days, until August 11, 1840 when the Ottoman Empire voluntarily surrendered independence.
The document discusses the campaigns of Genseric and the Vandals from 419-456 AD and Attila and the Huns from 432-453 AD in relation to Bible prophecy and the seven trumpets. It summarizes how Genseric conquered North Africa and then sacked Rome in 455 AD, destroying much of the Western Roman Empire through naval battles. It also discusses how Attila ravaged parts of Europe from the Danube to the Baltic and was known as "the Scourge of God" for bringing destruction. The document shows how these events increased the political influence of the Papacy, as Pope Leo was able to negotiate with both Genseric and Attila to spare Rome from complete destruction.
Seven Last Plagues Handout - Revelation 14-15Karen Lall
The document provides information about the ten plagues of Egypt in Exodus and compares them to the seven last plagues described in Revelation. It summarizes key points about the plagues, including who will be protected and who will stand during the plagues, emphasizing the importance of being ready for Jesus' return before the plagues begin.
The document discusses the seven trumpets from the book of Revelation. It provides historical context for the first five trumpets, linking them to major events in the fall of the Western Roman Empire between the 4th and 5th centuries AD. These include the conversion of Constantine, the building of Constantinople, and the division of the empire among Constantine's sons after his death. It argues that the first four trumpets refer specifically to the fall of the Western divisions of Rome. The last three trumpets deal with the rise of Islam, demise of the Eastern Roman Empire and papal rule, and the final battle between God and Babylon.
The document discusses the events surrounding the fall of Western Rome in 476 AD and the rise of the Papacy in its place, including Odoacer becoming the first barbarian king of Italy, the conversion of Clovis the Frank to Catholicism which supported the Papacy, and the removal of three Arian kingdoms (Vandals, Heruli, Ostrogoths) to pave the way for the Papacy's rise to power.
The Antichrist And His Kingdom Daniel 7: 7 And behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong. It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in pieces, and trampling the residue with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns. 23 The fourth beast shall be: a fourth kingdom on earth, which shall be different from all other kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, trample it and break it in pieces. Daniel 8: 23 ...When the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. Rev. 13: 4 And they worshipped the beast (Antichrist), saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? 5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. 7 ... And power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. 8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him.
Daniel's second vision occurred in the first year of King Belshazzar of Babylon. Daniel was troubled by the dream, which depicted four great beasts arising from the sea after the winds strife upon the waters. The beasts represented four future kingdoms. A little horn power arose after the ten horns on the fourth beast, representing the Roman Empire. This little horn uprooted three of the ten horns and spoke boastfully against God, representing the rise of the Papacy in power after the fall of Rome.
Bible prophecy tells us that the time is coming when the world will be united under an incredibly intelligent, charismatic, powerful, evil man. And it states that the Antichrist’s coming will be according to the working of Satan, with all power and signs and lying wonders. The antichrist will exalt himself above all that is worshiped or called God and he will force everyone to take a mark (called the mark of the beast) or they will be killed. The bible gives a stern warning and demands that no one is to take this mark.

The Antichrist And His Kingdom
Daniel 7: 7 And behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong. It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in pieces, and trampling the residue with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns. 8 I was considering the horns, and there was another horn, a little one, coming up among them, before whom three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots. And there, in this horn, were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking pompous words. This document provides commentary on Daniel 11:1-15, which outlines the history between the Persian Empire and the people of God, and then the Grecian Empire and the people of God. It summarizes the succession of kings in the Persian Empire after Cyrus, and the divisions that arose after Alexander the Great's death. The main focus is on the series of conflicts known as the Syrian Wars between the Ptolemaic dynasty in Egypt (king of the south) and the Seleucid dynasty in Syria (king of the north), as they vied for power over Palestine where God's people lived.
The document provides an analysis of Daniel 11:40-45, which outlines the final conflict and deliverance of God's people. It begins by establishing the context of "the time of the end" referring to 1798 onward, when the book of Daniel was unsealed. It then examines the symbols of the "king of the South" representing atheism and pushing against the Papacy, while the "king of the North" represents the Papacy coming against atheism in the final conflict between good and evil. The document explores the biblical foundations and historical fulfillment of these symbols.
In 2007 the congregation read through "The Message" New Testament by Eugene Peterson. This lesson is taken from the assigned reading from September 2-8-07
The document summarizes four major wars that will occur at the end times according to biblical prophecy:
1. The Psalm 83 War between Israel and its neighbors.
2. The Ezekiel 38 War where God will gather armies against Israel but will intervene to protect Israel.
3. The Battle of Armageddon where the armies of the world will gather to make war against Jesus but will be defeated by Him.
4. The Millennium Revolt after Satan is released from prison and deceives the nations one last time before being destroyed.
1) Daniel has a vision of a two-horned ram being attacked and defeated by a goat with a prominent horn between its eyes.
2) The goat's large horn is broken off and replaced by four prominent horns. Another small horn grows and becomes very powerful, threatening heavenly beings.
3) The vision is explained to Daniel - the ram represents the kings of Media and Persia, while the goat is the king of Greece. The small horn represents a future wicked king who will prosper for a time but will ultimately be destroyed.
Looks at how the last two chapters of the Book of Daniel fit in with the end times chronology of the New Testament in the Book of Revelation and Synoptic Gospels.
1) Daniel was shown three visions by God about the future of world powers from Babylon to the end time. Each vision provided more details.
2) The visions outlined the rise and fall of Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome and their influence on God's people.
3) The final vision in Daniel 11 describes events from the divided Greek empire to the establishment of papal Rome and its persecution of Christians until its end.
The document provides a detailed summary and analysis of Daniel chapters 10-12. It summarizes that Gabriel explains future historical events to Daniel, starting with kings of Persia after Cyrus and leading up to Alexander the Great. It notes that God was directly involved in influencing these kings, like Cyrus, to accomplish the work of returning Jews to Israel, and that believers can have confidence like Daniel during future times of crisis.
Daniel receives a vision revealing a great conflict between good and evil that would affect God's people in the last days. Though the vision was given in the third year of Cyrus' rule, its meaning was not fully understood until later. Daniel mourned and fasted for three weeks seeking greater understanding of what he had seen regarding the restoration of God's people and sanctuary. His strict diet and abstinence from luxuries during this time helped sharpen his mind to discern the Holy Spirit's revelations. The vision in chapter 10 provides further explanation of the restoration outlined in Daniel 8-9.
The document discusses prophecies from the book of Daniel about four beasts representing kingdoms and a little horn power. It identifies the little horn as the papacy based on several lines of evidence from Daniel and Revelation: 1) It arose after the 10 divisions of the Roman Empire. 2) It uprooted three of the 10 kingdoms. 3) It differed from and was greater than the other kingdoms. The document argues that the papacy's claims to authority and ability to forgive sins constitute it speaking great things against God.
The document discusses biblical references related to the Antichrist, including prophecies from books such as Daniel and Revelation. It describes the Antichrist as a king who will blaspheme God, speak great things, wage war against believers, and demand worldwide worship through force. The document warns against taking the mark of the Antichrist or worshiping any idol or image. It emphasizes having wisdom to understand the prophecies about the Antichrist and the beast from the sea.
The document provides commentary on Revelation 18 from multiple scholars. It begins by summarizing Barnes' commentary that the angel coming down from heaven has great authority and power, illuminating the earth with his glory. It then provides brief summaries of the perspectives of Clarke, Gill, Henry, Barclay, and others on various elements of Revelation 18, such as the meaning of Babylon falling and becoming unclean, and the doom of Rome.
The document provides a summary of Lesson 8 from a series on the Book of Daniel. It discusses the key chapters and visions in Daniel 7. These include the four beasts that represent future kingdoms, the little horn power representing the papacy, the judgment scene, and the Son of Man. It then explains each of the symbols representing Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome. It analyzes the 1,260 year period of papal rule and the acts of changing times and law. The vision foretells that God's people will receive His everlasting kingdom after overcoming persecution by the little horn power.
The document summarizes the fulfillment of the 6th trumpet judgment as described in Revelation 9:13-19. It describes how in 1449 the Ottoman Empire gained control of Constantinople, marking the end of the 150 years of torment on the Greeks and the loosing of the four angels. The four angels represented the four principal sultanates of the Ottoman Empire located along the Euphrates River that were previously restrained but became unleashed to conquer the territories of the Eastern Roman Empire. The document provides historical context and quotes from sources identifying the armies of the Ottoman Empire under Mehmed II that conquered Constantinople in 1453, fulfilling the prophecy.
The document summarizes Revelation 9, which describes the sounding of the fifth and sixth trumpets. It explains that these trumpets represent the rise of Islam ("Mohamedism") from the 7th century onward and the actions of the Ottoman Empire from the 13th to 19th centuries. Islam is portrayed as a religion of darkness that spread across Northern Africa and the Middle East. The time periods mentioned in Revelation 9 for the two woes are interpreted as referring to the duration of Islamic influence and the Ottoman Empire's control over Eastern Europe.
The New Kingdom of Egypt was a period of great power and expansion under pharaohs like Hatshepsut, Tutmosis III, Akhenaten, Tutankhamun, and Ramesses II. Some key events included Hatshepsut ruling as one of Egypt's most successful female pharaohs, Tutmosis III's military campaigns expanding Egyptian control, Akhenaten briefly establishing a new monotheistic religion, and Ramesses II engaging the Hittites in history's first recorded peace treaty after the Battle of Kadesh. However, internal divisions and foreign invasions later contributed to the decline of Egypt's New Kingdom and its independence.
The document summarizes the fulfillment of the 7 trumpets, focusing on the 5th trumpet. It describes how the fall of the Persian king Chosroes opened the way for the rise of Islam under Muhammad. After Chosroes' defeat, there was anarchy in Persia for 8 years, allowing the Arabian caliphs to conquer Persia. It then discusses how the invading Islamic armies that arose from the "bottomless pit" or wilderness of Arabia had power like scorpions for 150 "prophetic years" to torment the Roman-Byzantine world from the 7th-13th centuries AD. Their cavalry armies spread rapidly like locusts or horsemen prepared for battle, darkening
This document discusses several key terms and events from the biblical book of Daniel and Revelation regarding end-time prophecies. It explains that the "time of the end" refers to a period when knowledge and travel greatly increase. It identifies the "king of the south" as atheistic France during its revolution and the "king of the north" as the Papacy. It details historical events in 1798 and the late 20th century that mark the prophesied interactions between these powers. The document explores symbols like "chariots," "ships," and countries being "overflowed" in the context of these end-time events.
This document provides an overview of end times events according to biblical prophecy, including the rise of the Antichrist and characteristics of his global government. It discusses technological advances that may enable implementation of the "mark of the beast" and worldwide surveillance. The document suggests current trends towards globalization as preliminary steps towards a one world government that will be led by the Antichrist during the tribulation period.
The document discusses the fulfillment of Bible prophecies during the French Revolution:
1) Revelation 11 prophesied that a power would rise and "make war" on the Bible, which was fulfilled when France publicly prohibited the Bible during the revolution.
2) For three and a half years the "witnesses" (the Bible) "lay dead" in France, but were then tolerated again, fulfilling the prophecy of the witnesses standing on their feet.
3) As the Bible's influence grew globally after this, it fulfilled the call to "come up hither" in Revelation 11:12.
4) The social upheaval and destruction during the revolution, particularly of the nobility, fulfilled prophe

This document provides a summary of the biblical book of Revelation chapters 8-11 regarding the seven trumpets. It discusses:
1) How the seven trumpets depict the military history of Christianity and present conquest and defeat. The first four trumpets symbolize the fall of the Roman Empire to invaders like the Goths and Vandals.
2) The fifth and sixth trumpets represent the rise of Islam and the bloody conquests by Muslim tribes across North Africa and Asia over 150 years.
3) The seventh trumpet involves the emergence of God's end-time church to preach his message to the world before Jesus' return, as foretold in Revelation 14.
4) Key events and tim
This document provides a summary of Daniel chapters 10-12 with a focus on Rome's rise to power. It discusses:
1) Rome beginning to exert influence in the region after the death of the King of the South left a vulnerable child on the throne of Egypt.
2) Rome becoming the new King of the North after conquering the Assyrian kingdom with Pompey.
3) Pompey's siege of Jerusalem in 63 BC, which placed the region under Roman control for the first time.
The document discusses the events surrounding the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476 AD and the rise of papal power that followed. It provides historical context on:
1) Odoacer deposing the last Western Roman emperor in 476 AD, traditionally marking the end of the Western Roman Empire. This created a power vacuum and divided the territory among 10 kingdoms.
2) The conversion of Clovis, King of the Franks, to Catholicism in 496 AD. This alliance between the Franks and the Catholic Church supported the rise of papal authority.
3) The removal of 3 Arian kingdoms - the Heruli in 493 AD, the Vandals in 534 AD,
The document discusses the biblical passages about the Battle of Armageddon from Revelation. It provides 4 points:
1) The armies of the kings of the East will cross the Euphrates River and gather in the Valley of Megiddo.
2) The battle is initially between the armies of the Antichrist and the kings of the East and North, but their focus shifts to fighting Jesus and his heavenly armies.
3) Jesus destroys the armies and the Antichrist and False Prophet when he returns.
4) The Battle of Armageddon coincides with the Rapture of Saints, and the document looks at the Rapture next.
This document provides commentary on Revelation 8 in the Bible. It summarizes the events described by the sounding of the first three trumpets. The first trumpet represents the Goths attacking the Roman Empire between 395-419 AD, destroying a third of the trees and grasslands. The second trumpet symbolizes the Vandal King Genseric ravaging the sea and coastal areas from 428-476 AD. The third trumpet portrays a great star called Wormwood poisoning a third of the rivers and water sources.
The document summarizes the key visions and prophecies contained in the book of Daniel. It outlines Daniel's three prophetic visions which predicted the rise and fall of world empires from Media-Persia to Greece to Rome. It analyzes the prophecies of Daniel 11 in particular, mapping the historical powers of the kings of the north and south to different rulers and kingdoms over time, culminating in the end time. The document asserts that all of Daniel's prophecies have been or will be fulfilled precisely as foretold.
The document discusses four main interpretations of the book of Revelation:
1) The preterist view sees the events as pertaining to the past, specifically the Roman Empire of the 1st century AD.
2) The historicist view sees Revelation as a panoramic view of history from the 1st century until the second coming of Christ.
3) The symbolic view sees Revelation as portraying the ongoing conflict between good and evil throughout human history, with good ultimately triumphing.
4) The futuristic view asserts that chapters 4-22 deal specifically with end times events related to the second coming of Christ.
The document discusses the campaigns of Genseric and the Vandals from 419-456 AD and Attila and the Huns from 432-453 AD in relation to Bible prophecy. It describes how Genseric sacked Rome in 455 AD after building a powerful navy. Though Rome was pillaged, Pope Leo persuaded Genseric to spare lives and buildings. Similarly, when Attila invaded Italy and threatened Rome, Pope Leo convinced him not to sack the city. These events increased the influence of the papacy, with Leo seen as more important than Roman emperors. The document connects these historical judgments to the second and third trumpet plagues in Revelation involving something cast into the sea and a burning star falling on
The document provides information about the ten plagues of Egypt in Exodus and compares them to the seven last plagues described in Revelation. It summarizes key points about the plagues, including who or what was affected by each plague, biblical references, and short explanations. It also addresses questions about God's mercy during the plagues, who will be protected, and the need to prepare one's heart before Christ's return.
Alzheimer's disease is a progressive brain disease that destroys memory and thinking skills. It eventually makes independent living impossible. The disease begins in the hippocampus and then spreads to other areas of the brain, leading to shrinkage. The hallmark signs are beta-amyloid plaques and tau tangles that interfere with neuron communication. Current medicines only treat symptoms and more people will be affected as the population ages. Prevention is important since the disease process can begin in the brain years before symptoms appear.
This document provides information on healthy eating and lifestyle habits. It discusses establishing SMART plans and using a self-management toolbox to support physical activity, healthy eating, stress management, symptom management, communication with one's healthcare team, and other wellness practices. The document also covers common nutrition education messages, diet-related diseases, Virginia-specific disease statistics, principles of temperance, carbohydrates and their processing, calorie density and satiety, and healthy eating guidelines. The overall message is that making small, achievable changes to diet and lifestyle can significantly improve health and prevent disease.
This document provides an overview of a workshop on tools for temperance and self-management. The workshop covers what disease is, the differences between acute and chronic disease, self-management strategies including temperance and self-control, self-management tasks, tools for self-management, ground rules for the workshop, and an introduction activity where participants share about their health conditions. Participants then learn about the power of the mind and creating short-term SMART action plans to work on specific behaviors.
The document discusses the causes that led to the French Revolution and warns that similar conditions are developing worldwide. It notes the centralization of wealth and power into the hands of a few, resulting in poverty and oppression of the masses. This sparks unrest, riots, and calls for workers to unite in defense. The same philosophies that fueled the French Revolution, such as rejection of God's law, are spreading globally and threaten to plunge the world into similar turmoil and conflict. Unless these underlying issues are addressed, the world will experience a time of trouble on a scale not seen since nations were established.
A study on Revelation 11:1-8. The presenter identifies the two witnesses, the bottomless pit power, and discusses why this history is important and how it relates to present-day world crises.
The document discusses the 7 seals of Revelation and their meanings. The first seal, represented by a white horse, symbolizes the spread of the gospel in the first centuries after Christ. The second seal, a red horse, represents war and bloodshed, particularly the Diocletian persecution around AD 303. The third seal, a black horse, symbolizes famine and moral corruption resulting from the compromise of Christianity with paganism after the Roman emperor Constantine in the 4th century.
The document provides commentary on Revelation 17, which describes a mysterious woman sitting on a scarlet beast. It notes that a woman in Bible prophecy represents a church. It analyzes details about the woman's clothing and the name written on her forehead - "Mystery, Babylon the Great" - to symbolize a fallen or apostate church. The beast is described as full of blasphemy and is connected to prophecies of a power that opposes God and exalts itself, revealing it represents a kingdom influenced by Satan. The summary identifies the key symbols and their proposed meanings within the document's interpretation of Revelation 17.
This document outlines the scattering of Israel and Judah from their homelands in roughly 722 BC and 587 BC, respectively. It applies the biblical prophecy of 2520 years to these events, showing that this period ended in 1798 AD with the papal powers receiving a "deadly wound." A second application of 2520 years from the scattering of Judah places another significant date at 1844 AD.
A presentation about the signs found in Matthew 24 and Luke 21 regarding the second coming of Jesus Christ. Most of the signs that Jesus spoke of in these chapters have already taken place. Are we watching?

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

2. “And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice
from the four horns of the golden altar which is
before God, Saying to the sixth angel which had
the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are
bound in the great river Euphrates. And the four
angels were loosed, which were prepared for an
hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to
slay the third part of men.” Revelation 9:13-15
3. The Conquer of Constantinople and
The Fall of the Ottoman Empire—
July 27, 1449 – August 15, 1840
4. 6TH Trumpets Begins Where 5th Trumpet Ends
July 27, 1449
“At that time John Paleologus (who is set
down in history as the last Greek emperor)
died, and Constantine Deacozes (a Greek)
asked permission of Amurath, the Turkish
Sultan, to ascend the Greek throne. This
clearly demonstrated that the Greeks lost
their independence at that date, and Turkish
rule in Constantinople prevailed. So exactly
150 years from the beginning of the Turkish
invasion, this 150 years’ ‘torment’ of the
Greeks ended, and the Turks held the power
in the Eastern empire.” (Loughborough, 1892,
p. 38-39)
5. “But what was the situation of both the Ottomans and the Greeks at
the juncture of the termination of those 150 years and the loosing of
the four angels, dating them from the singularly accurate date as given
by Gibbon, the 27th of July, 1299, thus ending them the 27th of July,
1449? At this point Constantine Deacozes was the successor of John
Palaeolo, the Greek Emperor; but he dare not ascend the throne
without the consent of Amurath, the Turkish sultan, and thus he was
virtually his vassal. Two years subsequent, 1451, Amurath died, and his
Son Mahomet II., became sultan of the Turks. He immediately
determined to take the Greek capital…Gibbon *says+ ‘He incessantly
signed for the possession of Constantinople, and the Greeks, by their
own indiscretion, afforded the first pretence of the fatal rupture.’ His
vizier said to Mahomet, ‘The same God who has already given thee so
large a portion of the Roman empire will not deny the remnant and the
capital…’ soon the fatal 29th of May, 1453, witnessed the final crash of
the Greek Roman empire.” (Cunningham, 1892, p. 369, 370)
6. “The restraining Spirit of God is even now being withdrawn from
the world. Hurricanes, storms, tempests, disasters by sea and by
land, follow one another in quick succession. The signs
thickening around us, telling of the near approach of the Son of
God, are attributed to any other than the true cause. Men can
not discern the sentinel angel restraining the four winds, that
they shall not blow until the servants of God are sealed; but
when God shall bid His angels loose the winds, there will be such
a scene of strife as no pen can picture.” (Signs of the Times,
October 9, 1901, ¶2) [The letting loose of the angels signifies
scenes of strife)
7. “The Ottoman empire is here a living acting agent, divided into four Sultanies,
bound by some other agencies at the Euphrates as an axis” (Hornby, 1863, p.
54)
“‘The four angels,’ are the four principal sultanies of which the Ottoman
empire is composed, located in the country of the Euphrates. They had been
restrained; God commanded, and they were loosed.” (Litch, 1838, p. 182)
“The Four Angels. These are the four principal sultanies of which the
Ottoman Empire was composed, located in the country watered by the
Euphrates. These sultanies were situated at Aleppo, Iconium, Damacus, and
Bagdad. Previously they had been restrained; but God commanded, and they
were loosed.” (Smith, 1881, 213, 214)
“The four angels here mentioned, that were bound in the great river
Euphrates and that were at this time to be loosed, refer to the four great
sultanies—Bagdad, Damascus, Iconium, and Aleppo—of which at that time
the Mohammedan power was composed. The command to loose these
signifies, in short, the letting loose of all the elements of Mohammedanism
for the final sweeping away of the last element of the Empire of Rome.”
(Jones, 1901, p. 72, 73)
8. “‘The four angels’ are the four sultanies or four leaders of the
Turks and Othmans. For there were four principal sultanies or
kingdoms of the Turks, bordering upon the river Euphrates: one
at Bagdad, founded by Togrul Beg, or Tangrolipix…in the year
1055: another at Damascus, founded by Tagjuddaulas or Ducas,
in the year 1079: a third at Aleppo, founded by Sjarfuddaulas or
Melech, in the same year, 1079: and the fourth at Iconium in
Asia Minor, founded by Sedyduddaulas or Cutlu Muses, or his
son, in the year 1080. These four sultanies subsisted several
years afterwards; and the sultans were bound and restrained
from extending their conquests farther than the territories and
countries adjoining to the river Euphrates, primarily by the good
providence of God, and secondarily by the croisades [sic] or
expeditions of the European Christians into the Holy Land, in the
latter part of the eleventh, and in the twelfth and thirteenth
centuries…” (Newton & Dobson, 1832, p. 489)
9. The River Euphrates
Revelation 16:12 “And the sixth angel poured out
his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the
water thereof was dried up, that the way of the
kings of the east might be prepared.”
Revelation 17:15 “And he saith unto me, The
waters which thou sawest, where the whore
sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations,
and tongues.”
10. “In Revelation 17, an angel explained that
waters represent “peoples, and
multitudes, and nations, and tongues.”
[Revelation 17:15.] Winds are a symbol of
strife. The four winds of heaven striving
upon the great sea, represent the terrible
scenes of conquest and revolution by which kingdoms have
attained to power. But the beast with lamb-like horns was seen
“coming up out of the earth.” Instead of overthrowing other
powers to establish itself, the nation thus represented must arise
in territory previously unoccupied, and grow up gradually and
peacefully. It could not, then, arise among the crowded and
struggling nationalities of the Old World,—that turbulent sea of
“peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.” It must be
sought in the Western Continent.” (The Great Controversy88, p.
439-440)
11. “The Latin or western empire…under the sixth trumpet…is to be
slain and utterly destroyed. Accordingly all Asia Minor, Syria,
Palestine, Egypt, Thrace, Macedon, Greece, and all the countries,
which formerly belonged to the Greek or Eastern Caesars, the
Othmans have conquered, and subjugated to their dominion.”
(Bishop & Dobson, 1832, p. 490)
12. “And the number of the army of the horsemen were
two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the
number of them. And thus I saw the horses in the
vision, and them that sat on them, having
breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone:
and the heads of the horses were as the heads of
lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke
and brimstone. By these three was the third part of
men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the
brimstone, which issued out of their mouths. For
their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for
their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads,
and with them they do hurt.” Revelation 9:16-19
13. “In this verse the precise number of the army of horseman is given, for John
tells us ‘he heard the number of them.’ And if we should understand the
prophet to mean, as some suppose he does, 200,000 multiplied by a 1000,
then the sum total would be 200,000,000, which would be more men than
were ever on our earth at one time capable of bearing arms; therefore I
believe this is not the meaning of the prophet, neither do I think that it was
a succession of armies during the whole period of 391 years, making the sum
total of 200,000,000, for this, too, would be incredible; for allowing a
standing army of 15,385,000 to be recruited every 30 years, it would only
make the two hundred millions; and this sum would be more than five times
the number of all the standing armies in the known world. And from these
considerations I have for myself given this construction, that the prophet
John heard the number of 200,000 repeated, or twice told, which would
make an army of 400,000 horseman; and this would not be incredible. And
what is to me strong proof of the fact is that the history informs us that
Mahomet II. Came against Constantinople about the year A.D. 1450, with an
army of 400,000 horsemen, and after a long siege took the city in the year
1453, and destroyed the Eastern Empire, which had stood more than ten
centuries from its foundation by Constantine.” (Miller, 1841, p. 121, 122)
14. “A description is then given (ver. 16-19) of the forces,
and of the means and instruments, by which the
Othmans should effect the ruin of the eastern
empire. Their armies are described as very numerous,
myriads of myriads; and who knoweth not what
mighty armies the Othman emperors have brought
into the field? When Mohammed the Second
besieged Constantinople, he had about four hundred
thousand men in his army…They are described too
chiefly as horseman…and it is well known that their
armies consisted chiefly of cavalry…” (Newton &
Dobson, 1832, p. 491)
15. “A description is then given (ver. 16-19) of the forces,
and of the means and instruments, by which the
Othmans should effect the ruin of the eastern
empire. Their armies are described as very numerous,
myriads of myriads; and who knoweth not what
mighty armies the Othman emperors have brought
into the field? When Mohammed the Second
besieged Constantinople, he had about four hundred
thousand men in his army…They are described too
chiefly as horseman…and it is well known that their
armies consisted chiefly of cavalry…” (Newton &
Dobson, 1832, p. 491)
16. “This graphic description of an army of cavalry in the use of fire
arms from the standpoint of John, long before the invention of
gunpowder or guns, is truly remarkable. Out of the fire, and
smoke, and brimstone were killed the third of the men. Says
Gibbon, ‘From the lines, the galleys, and the bridge, the
Ottoman artillery thundered on all sides; and the camp and city,
the Greeks and the Turks, were involved in a cloud of smoke
which could only be dispelled by the final deliverance or
destruction of the Roman empire.’ Such an image before the
seer of Patmos—of horses seemingly belching forth from their
mouths fire, smoke, and brimstone, spreading slaughter,
desolation and death by those heads, cannon balls and bullets,
issuing from those serpent-like tails—most strikingly
represents a new scene of warfare that was invented and
introduced just before the period of the downfall of the Greek
empire, and unmistakably proves the correctness of our
application of the second woe trumpet to the ruin of the said
empire by the Turks.” (Cunningham, 1892, p. 371)
17. ..having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone/Killed
by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone
“These verses express the deadly effect of the new mode of
warfare introduced. It was by means of these agents gunpowder,
firearms, and cannon that Constantinople was finally overcome,
and given into the hands of the Turks.” (Uriah Smith, 1881, p. 217)
“With this immense cannon the walls of Constantinople were
broken. Mohammed began his work of siege in early spring
(April 6) and took the city May 29, A.D. 1453. The taking of
Constantinople gave Mohammed II the title of Bujuk (the
Great)…Mohammed made Constantinople his capital…”
(Hornby, 1863, p. 343)
18. …an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year,
for to slay the third part of men
1 hour = 1/24 part of a day, (1 day = 1 year, according to
Numbers 14:34 & Ezekiel 4:6)
1 hour = 1/24 part of a year = 360 / 24 = 15 days
1 day = 1 year;
1 month = 30 days = 30 years;
1 year = 360 days = 360 years;
Total: 391 years + 15 days
19. Beginning July 27, 1449
Total: 391 years + 15 days
“Let this historical fact be carefully examined in connection
with the prediction above. This was not a violent assault
made on the Greeks, by which their empire was
overthrown and their independence taken away, but
simply a voluntary surrender of that independence into
the hands of the Turks, by saying, ‘I cannot reign unless
you permit.’ The four angels were loosed for an hour, a day
a month, and a year, to slay the third part of men. This
period amounts to three hundred and ninety-one years
and fifteen days; during which Ottoman supremacy was to
exist at Constantinople…the four angels were thus loosed
by the voluntary submission of the Greeks…” (Litch, 1838,
p. 182, 183)
20. “This supremacy of the Mohammedans over the Greeks was to
continue, as already noticed, three hundred and ninety-one years
and fifteen days. ‘Commencing when the one hundred and fifty
years ended in 1449, the period would end August 11, 1840.
Judging from the manner of the commencement of the Ottoman
supremacy, that it was by a voluntary acknowledgment on the
part of the Greek emperor that he only reigned by permission of
the Turkish sultan, we should naturally conclude that the fall or
departure of the Ottoman independence would be brought about
the same way; that at the end of the specified period [that is, on
the 11th of August, 1840] the sultan would voluntarily
surrender his independence into the hands of the Christian
powers,’ *Josiah Litch, Prophetic Expositions, Vol. II, p. 189.+ just as
he had, three hundred ninety-one years and fifteen days before,
received it from the hands of the Christian emperor, Constantine
XIII.” (Smith, 1891, p. 218)
21. “For several years the Sultan has been embroiled in war
with Mehemet Ali, Pacha of Egypt. In 1838 there was a
threatening of war between the Sultan and his Egyptian
vassal. Mehemet Ali Pacha, in a note addressed to the
foreign consuls, declared that in future he would pay no
tribute to the Porte, and that he considered himself
independent sovereign of Egypt, Arabia, and Syria. The
Sultan, naturally incensed at this declaration, would
have immediately commenced hostilities had he not
been restrained by the influence of the foreign
ambassadors, and persuaded to delay. This war,
however, was finally averted by the announcement of
Mehemet, that he was ready to pay a million of dollars,
arrearages of tribute which he owed the Porte, and an
actual payment of $750,000 in August of that year…”
22. “…In 1839 hostilities again commenced, and were prosecuted,
until, in a general battle between the armies of the Sultan and
Mehemet, the Sultan’s army was entirely cut up and
destroyed, and his fleet taken by Mehemet and carried into
Egypt. So completely had the Sultan’s fleet been reduced, that,
when hostilities commenced in August, he had only two first-
rates and three frigates, as the sad remains of the once
powerful Turkish fleet. This fleet Mehemet positively refused
to give up and return to the Sultan, and declared, if the powers
attempted to take it from him, he would burn it.
“In this posture affairs stood, when in 1840, England, Russia,
Austria and Prussia interposed, and determined on a
settlement of the difficulty; for it was evident, if let alone,
Mehemet would soon become master of the Sultan throne.”
(Litch, 1838, p. 192, 193)
23. “In the year 1840, another remarkable fulfillment of prophecy excited
widespread interest. Two years before, Josiah Litch, one of the leading ministers
preaching the second advent, published an exposition of Revelation 9,
predicting the fall of the Ottoman empire, and specifying not only the year but
the very day on which this would take place. According to this exposition, which
was purely a matter of calculation on the prophetic periods of Scripture, the
Turkish government would surrender its independence on the eleventh day of
August, 1840. The prediction was widely published, and thousands watched the
course of events with eager interest. “At the very time specified, Turkey,
through her ambassadors, accepted the protection of the allied powers of
Europe, and thus placed herself under the control of Christian nations. The
event exactly fulfilled the prediction. When it became known,
multitudes were convinced of the correctness of the principles of
prophetic interpretation adopted by Miller and his associates, and
a wonderful impetus was given to the Advent movement. Men of
learning and position united with Miller, both in preaching and
publishing his views, and from 1840 to 1844 the work rapidly
extended.” (The Great Controversy88, p. 334)
24. “The power of Islamism is broken forever; and there is no concealing
the fact, even from themselves. They exist now by mere sufferance.
And though there is a mighty effort made by the Christian
governments to sustain them, yet at every turn they fall lower and
lower with fearful velocity. And though there is a great endeavor
made to graft the institutions of civilized and Christian countries upon
the decayed trunk, yet the very root itself is fast wasting away by the
venom of its own poison. How wonderful it is, that, when all
Christendom combined together to check the progress of
Mohammedan power, it waxed exceedingly great in spite of every
opposition; and now, when all the potentates of Christian Europe,
who feel fully competent to settle all the and arrange all the affairs of
the world, are leagued together for its protection and defence, down
it comes in spite of all their fostering care. Let politicians know that
whatever they do or say, God's everlasting shall stand, and that He
will do all His pleasure. He maketh foolish the wisdom of this world.
How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!”
(Goodell, 1841, p. 160, 161)
25. “And the rest of the men which were not killed by these
plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they
should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and
brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear,
nor walk: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their
sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.”
Revelation 9:20, 21
26. “But though the Greek church* was thus ruined and
oppressed, ‘the rest of men, (ver. 20, 21,) who were not killed
by these plagues,’ the Latin church which pretty well escaped
these calamities, ‘yet repented not of the works of their hands,
that they should not worship devils,”…”and idols of gold, and
silver, and brass, and stone, and wood.’ From hence it is
evident that these calamities were inflicted upon the
Christians for their idolatry. As the eastern churches were first
in the crime, so they were first likewise in the punishment. At
first they were visited by the plague of the Saracens, but this
working no change or reformation, they were again chastised
by the still greater plague of the Othmans; were partly
overthrown by the former, and were entirely ruined by the
latter. What churches were then remaining, which were guilty
27. of the like idolatry, but the western, or those in the
communion with Rome? and the western were not at all
reclaimed by the ruin of the eastern, but persisted still in the
worship of saints, and (what is worse) the worship of images,
‘which neither can see nor hear nor walk;’ and the world is
witness to the completion of this prophecy to this day.
‘Neither repented they of their murders, (their persecutions
and inquisitions,) nor of their sorceries, (their pretended
miracles and revelations,) nor of their fornication, (their public
stews and uncleanness,) nor of their thefts,’ their exactions
and impositions on mankind: and they were as notorious for
their licentious and wickedness, as for their superstition and
idolatry. As they therefore refused to take warning by the
two former woes, the third wo, as we shall see, will fall with
vengeance upon them.” (Newton & Dobson, 1832, p. 493, 494)
28. * “… the eighth century eliminated the other four patriarchs so
far as western Christendom was concerned. In quick
succession, Alexandria, Jerusalem, and Antioch, fell to the
Saracens; and soon afterward remaining Christendom split into
rival Latin and Greek churches, grouped respectively around
Rome and Constantinople. “The schism like the political
division of the old Roman Empire into East and West followed
the lines of partition between the Latin and Greek cultures…
The split had begun to show very early and it was assisted by
the political differences of East and West. The occasion for
actual separation, however, was a religious dispute over the
use of images in worship. This is known as the ‘iconoclast’
(image-breaking) question. A small but influential minority in
29. the Greek Empire desired to abolish the use of images, which,
they felt, the ignorant were apt to degrade from symbols into
idols. The great reforming emperor, Leo the Isaurian (717-741),
who had just saved what was left of Christendom from the
Saracens (634) put himself at the head of the movement, with
all his despotic power. Finally, he ordered all images removed
from the churches. The West in general believed in their use as
valuable aids to worship, and in Italy the pope forbade
obedience to the order of the emperor. The result was the
separation of Christendom into two halves, never since united.
“Thus, Rome was left the unquestioned head of the Latin
church. Other conditions, which we are now to trace, raised
this headship into a real monarchy, temporal as well as
spiritual, such as was never attained in the Greek church
where the patriarchs of Constantinople were overshadowed by
the imperial will” (West, 1904, p. 540-541)
30. “That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath
already been; and God requireth that which is past.”
Ecclesiastes 3:15
33. “On one occasion, when in New York City, I was in the night season called upon to
behold buildings rising story after story toward heaven. These buildings were
warranted to be fireproof, and they were erected to glorify the owners and builders.
Higher and still higher these buildings rose, and in them the most costly material was
used. Those to whom these buildings belonged were not asking themselves: "How
can we best glorify God?" The Lord was not in their thoughts.
“I thought: "Oh, that those who are thus investing their means could see their course
as God sees it! They are piling up magnificent buildings, but how foolish in the sight
of the Ruler of the universe is their planning and devising. They are not studying with
all the powers of heart and mind how they may glorify God. They have lost sight of
this, the first duty of man.“ “As these lofty buildings went up, the owners rejoiced
with ambitious pride that they had money to use in gratifying self and provoking the
envy of their neighbors. Much of the money that they thus invested had been
obtained through exaction, through grinding down the poor. They forgot that in
heaven an account of every business transaction is kept; every unjust deal, every
fraudulent act, is there recorded. The time is coming when in their fraud and
insolence men will reach a point that the Lord will not permit them to pass, and they
will learn that there is a limit to the forbearance of Jehovah. “The scene that next
passed before me was an alarm of fire. Men looked at the lofty and supposedly fire-
proof buildings and said: "They are perfectly safe." But these buildings were
consumed as if made of pitch. The fire engines could do nothing to stay the
destruction…”(9T, p. 12, 13)
34. NEW YORK, April 5 – “The hijacked airplanes that struck the
World Trade Center hit with such force that the resulting
explosions blew the fireproofing off the steel columns,
accelerating heat buildup and weakening the structural core --
contributing to the towers' eventual collapse, according to a
report issued Tuesday…. Still, the study by the National
Institute of Standards and Technology concluded that no
amount of fireproofing could have saved the buildings.” By
Michelle Garcia Special to The Washington Post; Wednesday,
April 6, 2005; Page A03
35. They told us there was an accident in tower one, that the fire
department was on its way, that our building was secure and
safe, and that we could return to our offices shortly," Hickey
said.
"They kept saying, 'Repeat, building two is secure, repeat,
building two is secure,'" Simmons said. "A number of people
did turn around."
"'Stay where you are. This is a secure area. Please remain in the
building. Stay where you are,'" Bartels recalled the announcer
saying. "We didn't slow down. We just ignored it, kept on
moving." It was 9:06 a.m.—"Lawsuits likely after WTC attacks,"

36. A day of the trumpet and alarm against the
fortified cities, and against the high
towers. And I will bring distress upon men
that they shall walk like blind men, because
they have sinned against the LORD: and
their blood shall be poured out as dust, and
their flesh like refuse. Zephaniah 14-17.
37. Speaking of these scenes, Sister White quotes the following verses:
“”I am pained at my very heart; . . . I cannot hold my peace, because
thou has heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the
alarm of war. Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole
land is spoiled.” Jeremiah 4:19, 20. (9T, p. 15)
“I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the
heavens, and they had no light. I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they
trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. I beheld, and, lo, there was
no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. I beheld, and,
lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were
broken down.” (Verses 23-26) (9T, p. 15)
38. “There are not many, even
among educators and
statesmen, who comprehend
the causes that underlie the
present state of society.
Those who hold the reins of
government are not able to
solve the problem of moral
corruption, poverty,
pauperism, and increasing
crime. They are struggling in
vain to place business
operations on a more secure
basis...” ,9T 13.3-
39. “The world is stirred with the spirit of war. The
prophecy of the eleventh chapter of Daniel has nearly
reached its complete fulfillment. Soon the scenes of
trouble spoken of in the prophecies will take place.”
{9T 14.2}
40. “In India, China, Russia, and the cities of America, thousands of
men and women are dying of starvation. The monied men,
because they have the power, control the market. They purchase
at low rates all they can obtain, and then sell at greatly increased
prices. This means starvation to the poorer classes, and will
result in a civil war. There will be a time of trouble such as never
was since there was a nation. "And at that time shall Michael
stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy
people: and there shall be a time of trouble such as never was
since there was a nation, even to that same time; and at that
time thy people shall be delivered, everyone that shall be found
written in the book. . . . Many shall be purified, and made white,
and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly, and none of the
wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand."--Ms
114, 1899.
41. Islamic powers will rise further, and a centralized
Islamic power will use Powerful Firearms to kill
and do greater damage than was seen at 9/11
42. “Adding the nuclear ingredient to this volatile mix will certainly produce an
arms race. If Iran is going to get the bomb, its neighbors will have no choice
but to keep up. North Korea, now protected by its own bomb, has threatened
proliferation — and in the Middle East it would find a number of willing
buyers. Small principalities with huge U.S. Air Force bases, like Qatar, might
choose to rely on an American protective umbrella. But Saudi Arabia, which
has always seen Iran as a threatening competitor, will not be willing to place
its nuclear security entirely in American hands. Once the Saudis are in the
hunt, Egypt will need nuclear weapons to keep it from becoming irrelevant to
the regional power balance — and sure enough, last month Gamal Mubarak,
President Mubarak’s son and Egypt’s heir apparent, very publicly announced
that Egypt should pursue a nuclear program. “Given the increasing instability
of the Middle East, nuclear proliferation there is more worrisome than almost
anywhere else on earth. As nuclear technology spreads, terrorists will enjoy
increasing odds of getting their hands on nuclear weapons. States — including
North Korea — might sell bombs or give them to favored proxy allies, the way
Iran gave Hezbollah medium-range rockets that Hezbollah used this summer
during its war with Israel. Bombing through an intermediary has its
advantages: deniability is, after all, the name of the game for a government
trying to avoid nuclear retaliation.” (Feldman, 2006, ¶5, 6)
43. “This week Egypt became the 13th Middle Eastern country in the
past year to say it wants nuclear power, intensifying an atomic
race spurred largely by Iran's nuclear agenda, which many in the
region and the West claim is cover for a weapons
program.“Experts say the nuclear ambitions of majority Sunni
Muslim states such as Libya, Jordan, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia are
reactions to Shiite Iran's high-profile nuclear bid, seen as linked
with Tehran's campaign for greater influence and prestige
throughout the Middle East. “‘To have 13 states in the region say
they're interested in nuclear power over the course of a year
certainly catches the eye,’ says Mark Fitzpatrick, a former senior
nonproliferation official in the US State Department who is now a
fellow at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in
London. ‘The Iranian angle is the reason.’” (Murphy, 2007, ¶1-3)
44. The Rise of the Islamic Power Will Cause the
Nations to League Together
Genesis 16:11-12
45. The powers of Islam will once again “fall”
by way of a treaty, and submit itself to
the Western nations
All that prophecy has foretold as coming to
pass, until the present time, has been traced
on the pages of history, and we may be
assured that all which is yet to come will be
fulfilled in its order. (Maranatha, p 152)

[NOTE: The drying up of the waters in Revelation 9 was the overthrow of the nationalities of the Old World. Pagan Rome still had a seat at Constantinople & Papal Rome was “riding the beasts” or civil powers of the Old World.][Note: So during the timeframe of this trumpet, you will have the secular powers of Pagan/Papal Rome dry up or become destroyed]

Predictions of World War I are mingled with indicators of last-day events.B. “The final movements will be rapid ones” (9T 11).C. New York City. Two American cities had skyscrapers in 1904, but only NY is the capital of capitalism.D. “Buildings rising . . . toward heaven. . . higher and still higher.” Erected “to glorify their owners and builders,”“these buildings were warranted to be fireproof,” and were declared “perfectly safe” (9T 12-13).D. “Buildings were consumed as if made of pitch.” Pitch is “a sticky resinous black or dark brown substance whichhardens on cooling, obtained by distilling tar or turpentine”–Oxford Dictionary. “As if made of pitch” has twomeanings: (1) Pitch makes a hot fire that burns very fast. The Twin Towers–enormous buildings–came down inless than two hours. (2) Pitch produces thick black smoke. Who could forget the image of black smoke pouringfrom the Twin Towers. How literal does a prophecy have to be before we can admit its fulfillment? Did she haveto write in 1904 that the buildings would burn “as if flooded with 15,000 gallons of jet fuel”?E. “Fire engines could do nothing to stay the destruction.” The best firemen in the world could not quench theflames. The further prediction that “The firemen were unable to operate the engines” was fulfilled in two ways:(1) At first the fire was so far above the street that the engines couldn’t reach it. (2) While the firemen weredragging hoses up stairwells to get closer to the fire, the fire engines were buried under the collapsing buildings.F. Aftermath of 9-11: War, Daniel 11, Time of Trouble.1. “The world is stirred with the spirit of war.” “The spirit of war is stirring the nations from one end of theearth to the other” (9T 14, 17).2. Daniel 11 “has nearly reached its complete fulfillment” (9T 14).3. “Soon the scenes of trouble spoken of in the prophecies will take place” [see Daniel 12:1-2]. “But in themidst of the time of trouble that is coming,—a time of trouble such as has not been since there was anation,—God’s chosen people will stand unmoved. Satan and his host cannot destroy them, for angels thatexcel in strength will protect them” (9T 14, 17).
