Editor's Notes

  1. eBossWatch was launched in June 2007 to help people avoid hostile work environments and workplace bullying . Because it is extremely difficult during the job interview process to discover the true atmosphere at a potential employer and the true nature of a potential manager, eBossWatch is a critical job search resource for people who are considering a career change. BossWatch enables you to anonymously rate your boss using a respectable and focused evaluation form so that job seekers can search for bosses at potential workplaces and can receive reports detailing the ratings that each boss has received.
  2. Sparked is the world's first Microvolunteering network. "Easy, social, online volunteering for busy people." WHY MICROVOLUNTEERING? Most of us live incredibly busy lives. With 60 hour work-weeks, kids, running errands, and the stress of everything else, it's difficult to take an entire day off to volunteer. And yet, we do have spare time. But it comes in moments throughout our day. In fact, every single day, we spend nearly 400 million hours on Facebook and we watch over two billion Youtube videos. At Sparked, it's our goal to offer *convenient* online volunteerism to you. We're driven to fit volunteerism into the same kind of time that you might normally spend on Facebook, Farmville, or Twitter. It's volunteerism for the digital age. We call it microvolunteering.

From the start their purpose has been to provide insight into the very best in iOS applications through numerous reviews and latest news sections. 16. Yammer is revolutionizing internal corporate communications by bringing together all of a company’s employees inside a private and secure enterprise social network. Although Yammer is as easy to use as consumer products like Facebook or Twitter, it is enterprise-class software built from the ground up to drive business objectives. Yammer is free for your whole company, enabling users to communicate, collaborate, and share more easily and efficiently than ever before. It reduces the need for meetings, increases communication across silos, surfaces pockets of expertise and connects remote workers. Sign up and start using Yammer in less than 60 seconds. 20. Quora is a continually improving collection of questions and answers created, edited, and organized by everyone who uses it. The most important thing is to have each question page become the best possible resource for someone who wants to know about the question. One way you can think of it is as a cache for the research that people do looking things up on the web and asking other people. Eventually, when you see a link to a question page on Quora, your feeling should be: "Oh, great! That's going to have all the information I want about that." It's also a place where new stuff--that no one has written about yet--can get pulled onto the web.

  24. Daniel Marlos, The Curious World of Bugs author and The Bugman on the internet sensation What’s That Bug?, cannot find any problematic pests in his vegetable garden in the Mt. Washington neighborhood of Los Angeles. Carrots and onions, seen flowering in the background, are both known to attract beneficial insects like wasps and syrphid flies. The adult wasps and syrphid flies feed on the nectar and pollen from the flowers, and their larvae eat garden pests like caterpillars, crickets and aphids. What’s That Bug? served over 900,000 page views in July, 2010 to almost 250,000 unique visitors. We generate revenue to pay for hosting and bandwidth costs when visitors click on ads on our site, when they donate through the PayPal link, and when they click through the Amazon.com link and buy a book. Whats That Bug? is a labor of love, although there are definite costs to keeping it running. Please keep this in mind as you browse the site.

  29. We want to make it easier to meet new people. Post college it becomes more and more difficult to expand your friends. As you get older, your friends get married, move away, start hanging out with other people, or you just stop connecting with them altogether. Whatever the case may be, it's super hard meeting people you want to be friends with! It seemed like the only friends we hung out with were old college and high school buddies or colleagues from work. We didn't even get along with all of them, but we just hung out with them, because our circle was shrinking/we didn't want to be stuck at home. This pain was multiplied when we decided to move to Chicago last year to open a cream puff store not knowing anyone! Being new to a big city without any friends is rough. We tried the bars and lounges, but it was difficult. We couldn't carry on any good conversations in these noisy and dark places, plus it was super expensive and bad on our livers. We love eating and we love going to different neighborhoods in search of food and it dawned on us: Why can't we just hang out with cool people while we eat at these places? Fast forward a few months and Grubwithus was born.
