2. Title Sequence 0.00 – 1.25
• Sequence begins with the institutional logos of “Universal’’ and “Paramount
Pictures” This helps shows who the movie is created/developed by. The title
sequence is bold and eye-catching to help show the audience which Directors and
actor/actresses are in and help create the film “Double Indemnity”. Each title is
edited by a fade out and a fade in.
• The music is non digetic and is very mysterious which complements the character
walking on screen as he is shown as a shadow, this dissolves out into the first
scene.
• The ending of the title sequence shows who the movie is Directed by Billy Wilder it
is convention of film titles as they were the most important person In the movie.
3. Analysis
The dissolving of the character of the title sequence comes out into a light up old
fashioned American street. We are shown where the setting is by a sign showing ‘ LOS
ANGELES RAILWAY CORP’
We are shown what type of date this film is set with the vehicles used, they are shown
tracked along the first few seconds. During this 30 seconds we are shown a car rushing
towards a destination. Jump cuts have been used to speed up the vehicle movement.
4. Analysis
• The sound of the movie Double indemnity is a continuous non-digetic sound which
links the mystery of a character and helps promote what the movie will show later
on during the film but his cover is changed into Mr Nev a worker in pacific
insurance, this is shown with the use of dialogue being used
• A cigarette is used in every Noir film because this sets dates back into an old
fashioned film because noone knew what tobacco could do too people back then.
