These 5 images were taken by Owen Bailey to copy the styles and techniques used in a magazine he was modeling his own work after. The photos best fit the genre and theme of Owen's R&B music magazine by representing that theme.
This document discusses 5 photos taken by Owen Bailey for a magazine. The photos were chosen to copy the style of the magazine being used as a model and to suit the R&B genre and theme of the magazine. The photos were also selected to look professional and realistic, and demonstrate the ability to take photos from different angles and perspectives. The model's dress was changed between photos to keep the magazine interesting and engage the audience.
The student used an image from online as inspiration for their film magazine poster layout. They copied the overall layout but used a similar font since they could not find the exact one. With more time, the student would have researched additional magazine covers for inspiration and included more written content to make the poster seem more like a real magazine.
The document describes the process of constructing a magazine cover. It discusses:
- Taking photos as potential cover images and narrowing them down to four options.
- Sketching a draft cover design to guide further photo shoots.
- Gathering feedback on the cover design from 14 people, most of whom felt it was simple yet effective.
- Using Adobe Photoshop to edit the cover image, add text elements like the magazine title and barcode, and assemble the final cover design.
The magazine cover features a hip hop artist with his headphones as the main focal point, challenging conventions where the artist would normally face forward. Inside pages use typical magazine elements like page numbers and images to look realistic. The contents page has a transparent image of the artist's head to blend into the background studio setting, where smaller images in the studio monitors advertise other stories, and the magazine logo is incorporated into the speakers.
The production log documents the creator's progress in designing a magazine contents page and feature article spread across multiple lessons. Photos were added, text was edited to fit the creator's style, and page details like numbers and titles were included. A name was chosen for the magazine and the feature article was typed up. Layouts were tweaked and additional photos from a new shoot were incorporated. Pull quotes and captions were also added to enhance the text and images.
The document summarizes the author's plan for a double page spread for their mock fanzine. They were inspired by layout conventions from music magazines NME and Kerrang, such as using a slug, byline, drop cap, pull quotes, anchor text, and body text styling. The author's plan incorporates these elements along with large center images, overlaying text on images, and consistent branding to match the fanzine and magazine styles.

The document discusses potential names for a music magazine, including Brainstorm, Lunar, Upload, Empire, Flux, Complex, Song, and RNB. Lunar was selected as the magazine's name because it fits the genre, attracts the targeted audience, and conveys a positive message. RNB relates to the genre but was considered too basic since it had already been used.
This font was chosen because it relates to the R&B theme of the magazine as being bold and simple like the genre of music. It is also easy to read which may attract people. A similar font was selected that is not as bold but still simple and easy to read, which could help increase sales. This magazine copied the font and masthead color used by Vibe magazine as its template, using a recognizable font that is easy to read. However, one text considered did not look like it would fit a music magazine despite standing out boldly.
The document discusses different name options considered for a music magazine. The author settled on "Lunar C" because they liked the sound of it and it related to an R&B theme. Other considered names like "RNB" and "Upload" were rejected - "RNB" was too basic and "Upload" didn't clearly convey the genre. The goal was to choose a name that would be clear about the magazine's focus on music for targeted readers.

Assessment and Planning in Educational technology.pptxKavitha Krishnan
In an education system, it is understood that assessment is only for the students, but on the other hand, the Assessment of teachers is also an important aspect of the education system that ensures teachers are providing high-quality instruction to students. The assessment process can be used to provide feedback and support for professional development, to inform decisions about teacher retention or promotion, or to evaluate teacher effectiveness for accountability purposes.
A workshop hosted by the South African Journal of Science aimed at postgraduate students and early career researchers with little or no experience in writing and publishing journal articles.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
