The document discusses Wigan Council's approach to public health transformation since public health functions transferred from the NHS to local authorities in 2013. Key points:
1. Wigan takes an integrated approach to "Start Well, Live Well, Age Well" through programmes like children's services integration and risk-stratified care models for working age adults.
2. Examples show progress in reducing obesity, smoking, and mortality rates faster than England and neighboring areas.
3. Lessons include identifying change agents, tailored training, sharing success stories, and councillor engagement to promote health and wellbeing.
This document provides guidance on using personal stories of addiction and recovery to advocate for issues related to stigma, discrimination, and access to treatment and support services. It offers messaging tailored for different audiences, including healthcare professionals, elected officials, businesses, and the general public. The key messages are that recovery is possible, saves society money in the long run, and that discrimination makes recovery more difficult. It promotes recognizing addiction as a chronic health condition and supporting initiatives that empower people in recovery.

This report summarizes two years of providing systemic psychotherapy from within a Traveller rights organization in County Offaly, Ireland. Over this time, 127 therapy appointments were provided to 20 client groups comprising 12 family systems and over 25 individuals. Client presentations tended to be complex with multiple issues, and therapy aimed to reduce stress and link clients to other services. The pilot addressed gaps by providing culturally appropriate, outreach therapy and supporting engagement with mainstream services. Recommendations include continuing and expanding the service with dedicated funding to better meet the mental health needs of the vulnerable Traveller population in a culturally sensitive way.
