Three Civil War battles were reenacted in Arizona and New Mexico in March 2013: the Battles of Valverde, Glorieta, and Picacho Pass from 1862. Many reenactors dressed in 1800s clothing to demonstrate skills needed for living at that time. While the South tactically won the battles, the Federals destroyed the Confederate supply train at Glorieta, forcing their army to retreat. The battles highlighted brothers fighting brothers and the differing goals of the North and South in the Civil War.
