CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.

2. Work Experience
1-(2010- Till Now) General Petroleum Company
Apply the engineering, Inspection and electrical reliability
activities within the Engineering and Technical Service division as follow:-
- Update the ETAP modeling to execute all related calculations such as load flow,
short circuit, voltage drop, and sizing.
- Participate in failure investigation of all electrical equipments and prepare root
cause failure report RCFA for electrical equipments failures
- Technical review, comment and amend of all electrical EPC deliverables by
contractors and monitoring the electrical design to ensure electrical engineering
systems design is in compliance with recognized standards and basic
engineering design.
- Generate and put the technical specification of the electrical equipment and
spare parts orders.
- ensure company regulations relating to safety and work permits are observed.
-- To issue electrical danger notices as authorized and responds to emergency
calls as required.
- Supervise the execution of the pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up
of electrical loads related to all projects (gas turbine upgrade, installing of the
new digital protection relay, renew switch gear circuit breaker) personnel in order
to maintain performance reliability and efficiency.
- Evaluation of implemented activities for any technical or HSSE deviations and
guide the contractor team to align with the projects specification.
- Make technical study to select the suitable for hazard area (Ex) according to
international standards.
- Prepare and supervise the implementation of the electrical maintenance work
maintenance instructions (MWI), predictive maintenance PdM plan by using
computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), based on
maintenance program (MAXIMO) to perform (PM - CM - AM) for all of the electrical
system in the gas plant. With the following details:
1- Medium voltage switch gear 6.6 KV.
2- 6.6 KV Medium voltage motor (544hp and 450kw).
3- Transformers with different ranges (6.6/0.4kv) and (11/6.6kv).
4- Maintenance of motor control centers (MCC) for Gas plant.
5- Central air conditioning units.
6- Cathodic protection, grounding system and Lighting in the site.
7- Maintenance of electrical power system networks (distribution substations,
SF6 circuit breakers, isolators, and underground low and medium cables, air
circuit breakers).
8- UPS and DC battery charger.
9- Motor starter panels, soft starter and variable speed drive.
10- Diesel generator engine.
11- L.V 0.4KV electric motors.
12- Maintenance and operation of Generator gas turbine power station, 3 generator
Gas turbine (Ruston Gas Turbine) 6.6 KV - 3 Megawatt for each generator with all
