College Park in College Station was established in 1921 and set aside six affordable housing lots for employees of Texas A&M College. Howell Lumber built six identical homes for $14,600 each, and five of the original six homes remain today including the one at 400 Fairview. The home had several owners over the years, including Loyle G. Lapham, a 1929 Texas A&M graduate who lived there until 1943 when he departed to work on the Manhattan Project and sold the home to Wilbur M. Jackson, a math professor who resided there until 1971.
