Dutura poisoning can occur when the plant is used to stupefy travelers. Symptoms include dizziness, delirium, drowsiness, dilated pupils, dimmed vision, dry mouth, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, dry skin, fever, nausea, vomiting, distended bladder, inability to urinate, unsteady gait, and muscle spasms that can lead to stupor, seizures, and coma. Treatment involves immediate hospitalization, clearing the airway, washing the stomach, injections of diazepam and physostigmine or pilocarpine, supportive care like cold compresses for fever, nutrition via feeding tube, and maintaining fluid and electrolyte balance.
