The document discusses conventions of opening sequences in films and television. It summarizes common elements like presenting title and credits over action or static images, accompanied by music. The author's opening sequence included conventions like production companies, editors, actors, and action footage to set up protagonist vs antagonist. However, it challenged conventions by using a less graphic chase scene to build suspense rather than violence. As a thriller, it incorporated elements like tension, violence and villains/heroes but challenged the genre convention of only using females as hostages by making the protagonist a male hostage.

Additional information is provided, including equations that may be useful for answering questions. Instructions are given for completing the exam, such as writing responses in sentences and showing working.
(1) The document is a physics exam paper containing multiple choice and written response questions about various physics concepts.
(2) The questions cover topics such as electricity, radiation, sound waves, kinematics, energy transfers, density, circuits, optics, and forces. Students are required to define terms, calculate values, graph data, and explain physical phenomena.
(3) The paper tests students' understanding of fundamental physics principles as well as their ability to apply equations, analyze diagrams, plot graphs, and communicate their reasoning.
This document provides a summary of the International GCSE Physics exam for January 2015. It outlines the general marking guidance examiners should follow, such as marking candidates positively and awarding all marks that are deserved according to the mark scheme. It also provides sample exam questions and answers to illustrate how the marking guidance will be applied.
This document provides a mark scheme for the January 2015 International GCSE Physics exam. It begins by outlining the qualifications awarded by Pearson, the exam board, and their commitment to education. It then provides general guidance for examiners on how to apply the mark scheme consistently and award all possible marks. The mark scheme itself is then presented through example answers to exam questions and the marks allocated to different parts of the responses.
1. The document is the exam paper for a physics GCSE exam. It contains 8 questions testing knowledge of physics concepts like energy, forces, electricity and waves.
2. The exam instructions state that students have 1 hour to complete the exam, they must answer all questions in the spaces provided, and show working for calculations.
3. The first question tests knowledge of energy units and energy transformations in simple circuits. The second question covers gas properties related to temperature and pressure.
The document is an exam paper for a physics exam. It contains instructions for students on how to complete the exam, which lasts 1 hour. It states that the total marks for the exam is 60. It then lists 8 multiple choice and written response questions on topics in physics, with the number of marks allocated for each question provided.
The document provides guidance for examiners marking the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Physics exam. It outlines general principles such as treating all candidates equally, applying the mark scheme positively and awarding all marks that are deserved according to the scheme. It also notes that examiners should consult their team leader if unsure about applying the mark scheme to a response.
1. An ultrasound cleaner uses waves with a frequency of 96 million vibrations per second to remove plaque from teeth. The vibrating tip creates ultrasound waves that break up the plaque, and water is sprayed to wash it away.
2. Ultrasound imaging of a fetus uses waves that bounce off tissues. Waves with a wavelength of 0.00044 m traveling at 1540 m/s correspond to a frequency of 3.5 MHz.
3. A motor lifted a 130g mass to a height of 63 cm over 1.5 seconds. It gained 26.4 J of gravitational potential energy but the electrical energy transferred was greater, accounting for energy lost as heat and sound.
The document provides information about the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Physics exam. It includes:
- Details about the exam paper and questions.
- General marking guidance for examiners, such as applying the mark scheme positively and awarding all marks if deserved.
- Sample exam questions and answers with notes.
The document gives sample exam questions, answers, and marking guidance to help examiners apply the mark scheme for the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Physics exam in a fair and consistent manner.
This document provides a mark scheme for a physics exam. It contains general guidance for examiners on applying the mark scheme consistently. It also provides the mark scheme for 8 exam questions, detailing the points students are expected to include in their answers and how many marks each point is worth. The questions cover topics like waves, energy, forces, radioactivity, and convection currents.
3. General Marking Guidance
• All candidates must receive the same treatment. Examiners must mark the
first candidate in exactly the same way as they mark the last.
• Mark schemes should be applied positively. Candidates must be rewarded for
what they have shown they can do rather than penalised for omissions.
• Examiners should mark according to the mark scheme not according to their
perception of where the grade boundaries may lie.
• There is no ceiling on achievement. All marks on the mark scheme should be
used appropriately.
• All the marks on the mark scheme are designed to be awarded. Examiners
should always award full marks if deserved, i.e. if the answer matches the
mark scheme. Examiners should also be prepared to award zero marks if the
candidate’s response is not worthy of credit according to the mark scheme.
• Where some judgement is required, mark schemes will provide the principles
by which marks will be awarded and exemplification may be limited.
• When examiners are in doubt regarding the application of the mark scheme to
a candidate’s response, the team leader must be consulted.
• Crossed out work should be marked UNLESS the candidate has replaced it with
an alternative response.
Placing a mark within a level mark band
• The instructions below tell you how to reward responses within a level. Follow
these unless there is an instruction given within a level. However, where a level
has specific guidance about how to place an answer within a level, always follow
that guidance.
• 2 mark bands
Start with the presumption that the mark will be the higher of the two.
An answer which is poorly supported gets the lower mark.
• 3 mark bands
Start with a presumption that the mark will be the middle of the three.
An answer which is poorly supported gets the lower mark.
An answer which is well supported gets the higher mark.
• Mark schemes will indicate within the table where, and which strands of QWC,
are being assessed. The strands are as follows:
i) ensure that text is legible and that spelling, punctuation and grammar are
accurate so that meaning is clear
ii) select and use a form and style of writing appropriate to purpose and to
complex subject matter
iii) organise information clearly and coherently, using specialist vocabulary when
appropriate.
