CS Lewis was a famous author born in Belfast, Ireland in 1898. He had a difficult childhood after losing his mother, uncle, and grandfather at age 10. Lewis went on to study literature and philosophy at Oxford University, where he also served during World War I. A motorcycle trip resulted in Lewis converting to Christianity. During World War II, Lewis and his wife took in children who were evacuated from London. His life experiences influenced him to write popular Christian allegories like the Chronicles of Narnia series.
