India has the potential to become the third largest economy by 2030 because of
the rapid rise of its economy coupled with the demographic advantage of a young
productive workforce.
India has globally been recognized as a nation where the public and corporate
sectors are working in tandem to generate innovative engineering solutions for
societal challenges. Over the years, India has built a significant and expanding
technological base; a robust and self-reliant public sector; a vibrant private sector;
humungous entrepreneurial base across Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises;
substantial number of academic institutions delivering quality engineering
education; and a wide array of research organizations across engineering and
sciences' disciplines. These characteristics create the unique competitive advantage
for organizations and individuals to collaborate, network and develop innovative
solutions that generate social benefit while creating a wide range of quality and
affordable solutions, services and products for mass consumption.
Interest in civil engineering as a rewarding professional career, is fast growing with
the rapid advancements that are taking place in construction materials, design and
construction technology, water resources, geotechnics and transportation
engineering and also due to the persistent demand for good engineering manager
by the industry. Almost every large company or institution in the country engaged
in civil engineering construction, design or research and testing is on the look out
for engaging young and bright civil engineering graduates for taking up challenging
tasks in their respective offices/ project sites. Time has come now to expose
engineers working in Government departments & corporations as well as in private
companies, practicing consultants & builders to the recent trends and
