Hovercrafts use air pressure to float above land or water and are piloted like aircraft. Hydrofoils use underwater wings to lift boats out of the water at high speeds to reduce drag. Submersibles are small underwater vehicles designed to operate below the surface while attached to a support vessel or platform on the surface.

2. A Hovercraft, also known as an air-cushion vehicle or ACV,
is a craft capable of travelling over land, water, mud or ice and
other surfaces. Hovercraft are hybrid vessels operated by a
pilot as an aircraft rather than a captain as a marine vessel.
Hovercraft use blowers to produce a large volume of air below
the hull that is slightly above atmospheric pressure. The
pressure difference between the higher pressure air below the
hull and lower pressure ambient air above it produces lift,
which causes the hull to float above the running surface.

4.  A hydrofoil is a lifting surface, or foil, which operates in water.
They are similar in appearance and purpose to airfoils used by
airplanes. Boats using hydrofoil technology are also simply termed
hydrofoils. As speed is gained, hydrofoils lift the boat's hull out of
the water, decreasing drag and thus allowing greater speeds.

5.  A submersible is a small vehicle designed to operate underwater. The
term submersible is often used to differentiate from other underwater
vehicles known as submarines, in that a submarine is a fully
autonomous craft, capable of renewing its own power and breathing
air, whereas a submersible is usually supported by a surface vessel,
platform, shore team or sometimes a larger submarine. In common
usage by the general public, however, the word submarine may be used
to describe a craft that is by the technical definition actually a
submersible.
