This document provides a first-hand account of a medical team's visit to the remote village of Kg Inakaak in Borneo, which is only accessible by boat. The team slept in a large community hall and held a medical camp, examining over 100 patients. They experienced the village's simple way of life, with limited electricity and resources. The locals were very hospitable and provided food and entertainment for the visiting team.

Steep staircase to climb, from river to hut, and then from hut
to Kampong. By the time I reach the hut only, with my
luggage, I was in NYHA 3 SOB. Then you see kids run up and
down.

3. This large community hall, is our sleeping quarters ( the girls
in separate homes ), dining hall, and also medical camp site.
The electricity is powered by a micro-hydro-electric dam
constructed by an NGO.

5. The locals were so hospitable. They prepared a simple
welcoming ceremony for us. The children put on a small
show. Here they re doing their local dance.

6. Time for dinner. The local ladies each brought a dish of their
favourate. It is their form of “pot luck”. Sorry for poor photo

8. The team members also responded with their host. All had a
good time.

9. The wonderful evening ended with a group photograph with
the dancers and team.

10. Time to stake out your bed space in this hall. This is only
about 9pm. It is a mood point what residents of Kg Inakaak do
after 9pm, when power generators go out and it is dark?

11. 5.30 am in the morning. You wake up early to get front of Q
for bath room and toilets. These are limited resources. But it
is so peaceful in the morning.

12. A cuppa before Camp starts at 8am. The coffee is not quite
like what I am used to. However, the kuehs were great.
Again food came “ pot luck “ style.

13. Setting up the Pharmacy, as we prepare for Camp to start.

14. The patients are here. On time. They are all from the
surrounding houses. We can recognise many of them from
last night.

15. The screening team did a great job. I just found out that they
have not been halfing my alcohol swabs, to help me save
money.

16. Camp starts. Dr Hew examining patient in his unique style.

17. By 1pm, with a short lunch, we have seen about 113 patients.
The people from up and down river, did not show. Not sure
why.

18. Once there is a lull, when food is ready, a short break for
lunch, where we see patients. I did not quite like that, but for
want of space, no choice. Pot luck again, and the food was
delicious.

19. When the crowd stop coming, I went to the jetty and when I
could see no perahu around, I checked with the locals who
confirmed that after 2 pm, it was unlikely to get more
patients. So we began to pack to move on to Kg Balaron.

20. Back to the perahus, to go up river, to Kg Salong, on route to
Kg Balaron
Bye bye Kg Inakaak.

21. We left many new friends and many memories behind.
Because the government has stopped the “flying doctors”
service because of lack of funds, the headman spoke to me
to leave some medicines behind. I explained that I can only
leave behind any extra OTC drugs. I requested Dr Tan PT
whether we could spare some OTC drug. I believe that we did
leave them some drugs.

22. Up river in 8 perahus. The water level was higher as it rained
overnight.

23. We arrived at Salong. The perahu cannot proceed further.
From Salong, we will take 4x4 to Kg Balaron.
