Eleanor Roosevelt influenced many New Deal policies during her time as First Lady. She advocated for programs that helped women, African Americans, the unemployed, and poor families. She pressed FDR to create the National Youth Administration and relief programs. ER also championed civil rights, workers' rights, and federal support for housing, arts, and labor protections. Through her investigations and lobbying, ER played a key role in shaping many of FDR's social programs and policies to assist Americans suffering from the Depression.
