1. Indoor navigation is challenging as GNSS does not work inside and infrastructure cannot always be installed. 2. The document proposes a solution using a small foot-mounted IMU with built-in sensors to calculate position integrated with zero velocity updates, magnetic heading corrections, and SLAM using WiFi signal strength maps to further improve accuracy over time. 3. Testing showed the IMU-SLAM system maintained sub-meter accuracy over tracks up to 1121 meters long, a significant improvement over IMU-only positioning which accumulated errors of almost 9 meters over the same distance.
