Spiritual maturity is a process that begins when a person accepts Jesus Christ and chooses to live in obedience to Him. It requires consciously learning and applying God's word through studying the Bible and allowing the Holy Spirit to renew one's mind and transform them. Some marks of spiritual maturity include making choices that align with God's viewpoint over one's own, walking by the Spirit through obeying God's requirements, and distinguishing good from evil. Spiritual growth occurs gradually as believers continuously study scripture, apply it to their lives, and surrender to the Holy Spirit's control.
